It's been 278 days. No doubt about it, he's awake; I can feel him.
I have nothing but the numbers in my head to keep me company. 1 window. 4 walls. 144 square feet of space. 26 letters in an alphabet I haven't spoken in 264 days of isolation.
6672 hours since I've touched another human being.
"Don't panic. We've got it under control," they said to me.
"Sakuna is tamed, and will be executed promptly," they said to me.
They are the minions of the Higher-ups. The initiative that was supposed to protect the little sorcery society we had, from special grade curses like my brother. The same people that pulled me out of my rest, away from what I knew, and forced me to heed my loyalty to them, at the cost of betraying my brother, the king of curses; in exchange for a life in Tokyo.
I can't be alone.
-
"Who let you in?" Nanami asked, walking inside his office room as I got up from the couch, walking up to him.
"I called Gojo. He gave me the passcode." I explained, waiting for him to close and lock the door behind him.
"Why are you here?"
"I need a favor..." I replied, looking at him pleadingly. "I want to see my brother."
"Why not plead to Gojo?"
"Gojo doesn't have the best relationship with the Higher-ups. He'll never convince them to let me see Ryomen."
Nanami stared at me, a frown appearing on his face as he shook his head, "I can't help you. Not after the stunt I heard him pull... Killing his own vessel- he's too unpredictable."
"Nanami-"
"It's too dangerous. I don't understand why you hold him so dear to you. After what he's done, even God can't look past his faults."
"He's family, Nanami. I may despise him with all my being but he is still my brother. I just need to know how he's doing-"
"Cut the bullshit, Y/n."
"There is no bullshit! These aren't fabrication to salvage his reputation. He's a monster and probably deserves to die horribly, but he is still my family, the only one I've got."
You walked up to him, landing your hands over his chest as his hands crossed, uninviting physical touches yet not as far as rejecting it. Looking at his tie, then up to meet his gaze before pleading, "Nanami, please."
The moment I smelled the change of aura, I tried to take a step back, when he grabbed a handful of my hair, pulling it back so your head would jerk up.
"You may take the form of a human but do not think I would mistake you for one."
I couldn't say anything, he knew I was lying. How? Had I been too transparent? Did I oversell my emotions?
"Did you expect me to take pity on you?"
I was speechless but not too surprised, he'd catch on. I knew it was a bad idea to keep fucking one of the sorcerers, he knew me too much. I can't fight back now, if I fight back I break my vow to the Higher-ups.
"You break into my home, not for the first time, mind you. Attempt to manipulate me. Tell me why I shouldn't report you to the authorities?"
"I'd seduce you before they even show up," I still managed to tease, chuckling slightly as I try to regain whatever grip he has on my hair. "It's not like it'd be the first time."
