It was a normal day like many others for the six-eared monkey, just lying around and not doing much...he stopped going on adventures after the first hundred years of waiting for 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘵 to come back home. If he hadn't known any better he'd say he was long gone, but not that monkey, no no no, 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒌𝒆𝒚 has over three layers of immortality, Wukong couldn't die even if he wished to. Well, he will surely wish to die if he ever gets his hands on him, for making him wait for so long... Sometimes he's worried something might've happened to him, but most of the time he just resents him for straight up abandoning him.
Wukong's room in the house remained untouched since Macaque didn't want to wash away his smell or memories. Deep down he just wanted his partner back... which didn't help on his resentment towards him.
Tho on one particular night when Macaque was coming back home from one of his shadowplays (Let's pretend it's another city where Mk isn't living) He could hear some steps from afar approaching the house...his hearing was hypersensitive so that meant the person was a few miles away from the house, Macaque groaned, hoping he wasn't gonna get bothered by anyone tonight and hoping the person will just walk away in another direction or something
𝘈 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘰𝘳, the room got quiet, who could possibly disturb him at this late hour?! "Ugh...I can't believe this mortals sometimes..." Muttered Macaque under his breath as he went to answer the door
He was greeted by a pair of red eyes and an awkward laugh, it was none other than...no, why was he here? why was he here only now?!
In the shock of the moment, Macaque found himself closing the door in his face, before quickly covering his mouth in surprise and opening the door again, slowly...
No, still there, he was still there "Heya bud... I kinda deserved that greeting huh?" Said Wukong quietly
Macaque found himself hugging the shorter simian, crying a few tears in frustration as he held tightly to his long-lost partner "Where the hell were you?! Don't you know you had a fucking boyfriend waiting for you at home?!" Said Macaque in full-on frustration, pulling away from the hug and holding him by the shoulders to look at him "...I-" started off Wukong before Mac shushed him, continuing to look at him
His hair was now short which Macaque found weird...He had more battle scars than he remembered and his clothes were more... different? they were different from the heavy armor and animal skins Wukong used to wear, instead of the usual feathers he used to wear in his hair were two red ribbons held on by a gold base. The thing standing out the most was a sparkly golden crown on his lower head, more like a headband or something, a round crown with its ends curling into a spiral right above his forehead
"What the hell? you didn't have time to come home back to me but you had time to get all dolled up? it was for those humans wasn't it???" Said Macaque now getting pissed, trying to snatch that stupid crown of his head to throw it or something...Who did he think he was returning here looking like some kind of royalty looking to get his ass kissed?!
But the moment he touched the golden hoop the ginger-haired monkey flinched, getting away from his touch as the crown glimmered slightly
