I watched dropes fall from the ends of my hair and streak onto the towel, rolling off making a dark, wet spot on the sofa cushion.

"Sofie, listen..." I hear Andrew's name and I start to hum. Not a melody to a song, just one, long drawn out note. "...Is that okay?"

"Yeah, sure. Fine." I mumble and stand up slowly. I wrap the towel closer around my body and head upstairs. What a nightmare this place is.

"Sofia, wake up!" I hear my mother's stern voice and open my eyes.

"What mom?" I say groggily. I looked up at her frowning face.

"Get up, get dressed, and go downstairs. It's 6:30 and school starts soon." She walked downstairs and I sat up in my bed. I walked into my cramped bathroom and look at myself in the mirror. Gross. I pull a brush through my hair and throw on jean capris and a tanktop. I look over to the top of my desk and look at the picture or Andrew and me, sitting on a picnic bench. I let out a sigh, the ones in movies that sound like someone was heartbroken, and went downstairs.

"School starts in fifteen minutes, Sofia! Do you plan on being late?"

"No, mom," I said quietly and I opened the back door. "Bye, I love you."

MY mom waved. "I love you too, now go! Don't be late!"

I smiled and walked out the door, fumbling for my car keys in my giant backpack. I finally found them and just about jammed them in the ignition. My safe Volvo hummed to life. I leaned back on the fluffy faux fur covers and gripped the leather steering wheel. I smiled to myself and backed down the driveway. I guess I just had a great feeling about getting away from that cramped-up neat house of mine.

"Sofia!" I heard a girl scream once I stepped out of my car.

"Alicia," I sighed. I really didn't look foreward on seeing her today.

"Guess what happened over spring break! So, I was at this party and Andrew was talking to Michael and you know how you said you didn't care about Andrew anymore, so I decided to all flirty and just play around, you know? But I didn't know Andrew had feelings for me. So he asked me out! Isn't that great?"

"Yeah, sure," I mumbled, backing away from Alicia.

"You don't look so hot Sofie are you okay?" Alicia asked, staring at me with her brown eyes. "You look really pale."

"I'm fine Alicia," I said and walked back towards my car. I slid in the front seat and gripped the steering wheel so tightly my knuckles turned as white as snow. Tears streamed down my face and I didn't even bother wiping them away. I guess Stupid Alicia didn't get that when a girl says she doesn't care about her ex-boyfriend, she still really does. But maybe she just doesn't get it because she's always broken up with the boys. She's never been dumped or heartbroken. And she probably never will be.
