POV y/nI walk down the aisle bumping into and apologising to people trying to put their bags in the over head shelves, an old lady is blocking my way.
"Hi, ma'am sorry, would you like some help?"
"Oh yes please dear. Thank you, thank you."
I put her bag up, close the shelf and keep walking.
I check my ticket then look back at the tiny signs with the seat numbers on them.
I climb over two people as I get into my window seat, seat 24F
I plop my bag on my lap as I want leg room and I'm only planning on sleeping the whole flight.
More people start filling in and sitting down, the fight attendants start the safety demonstration, I know this off by heart but still listen and scan over the safety booklet in the seat pouch.
"Hey"
I wasn't expecting a friendly neighbour, it's the person sitting beside me, a young woman, looks around 5 years older than me.
"Hi" I say back
"What your name?"
"Y/n Diaz. You?"
Why do I always feel I need to share my last name, god!
"Taylor.... Smith."
"You going to stalk me now because you asked for my last name?"
She says half laughing.
"No oh my god, I'm sorry, I'm- I'm a firefighter, we usually go by our last names so I always say it for some reason."
"A firefighter? That's cool"
"Yeah, I'm actually going to Seattle to start a new job."
"So you're not going to be a firefighter anymore?"
"No, nope still a firefighter, just new station."
"Ohhh sorry, sorry."
"It's alright."
I smile
We go silent as the plane starts to take off
"Hey, sorry I think I'm just going to sleep most of the way, I have work tomorrow."
She doesn't answer. Pretty sure she's already asleep 😭
I lay my head back and stare at the ceiling, I must have fallen asleep because I wake up to the announcement that tells you to you know, stow away your tray tables and put your seats in an upright position.
They already are so I take out my phone and check my messages and the time.
9:32 pm
I click on my messages and click on her contact.
Darcy 💕
No new messages so I click on the little phone icon beside her name and call her, I put my phone up to my ear.
"Hey it's Darcy, leave a message. Love you."
Voicemail, shit.
I try again twice as the aeroplane lands
Voicemail, both times.
Maybe she's driving.
I hope she's driving.
I get out of the aeroplane and nearly skip the luggage pick up but I remember and go back.
I pick up my guitar case and the duffle bag.
I walk out to the car park and sit down on a bench because I don't see my sisters car in the collection point and I need to call her but as I sit down to do so my phone starts vibrating
I pick up
"Hey, oh god, y/n/n I'm so sorry, I was in traffic, I'm pulling up now. OH MY GOD I SEE YOU!!"
She hangs up.
I see her car pull up and she opens the door before slamming it and running over to me.
I put down my bags and catch her in a giant bear hug.
She swings us back and forth and takes a step back but keeps her hands on my upper arms.
"You done something to your hair sis. How are you?"
"Good, I'm good, excited to be here with you."
"I'm so happy you're here, I'm going to have to show you around on one of your days off."
She rubs the only hand she has left on my arm up and down then squeezes my arm.
"Since when did you get so strong, look at these muscles."
She pulls my arm out.
"Fire academy."
She lets go of my arm
"We should probably go before the paparazzi get here"
She goes to pick up my bag but I reach it before her.
She smacks my arm then starts walking to the car to open the back door for me to put my bag in.
I plop it on the back seat on open the door to the passenger seat and sit down.
I buckle in and look over at her.
She's looking at me, smiling. God I haven't seen her in so long, she looks just like she did the last time I did though.
"I'm so proud of you. Getting out of there was hard, I'm sorry I didn't take you with me."
"Don't worry, you couldn't, I don't blame you."
She smiles again and starts driving.
After around half an hour of chats about how life's going we pull up into a nice looking neighbourhood and houses with big gardens and porches.
It takes about two minutes of climbing up the slope of big houses to pull into a driveway.
I know my sister wants to starts a family and that she's engaged but they don't need to have a house that fits a family of 10 now?! I mean I get that she's famous and all but really? I didn't have a mansion
"So my and my fiancé are rooming with some people, I know the house is big, that's all."
"Ohhh that makes sense."
We get out of the car and I see my car, that my sister has kept here for me for about a year.
"Thanks for keeping her."
I say patting the hood.
"No problemo."
We get in the house and she introduces me to her fiancée and her three roommates.
They're all so nice and we stay and chat a while and have a few beers.
It gets to 2am and I decided I need to go to bed as I need to do a 24 hour shift in four hours.
I say goodnight and excuse myself up to the room my sister said was mine while I stay here.
She's the best.
I get changed and fall asleep almost instantly.
I wasn't even drunk so I'm not going to be hungover tomorrow maybe a tiny headache but it's nothing I can't handle.

Thank you so much for choosing to read this story.
Station 19 has been my favourite show since I discovered it around November of 2018
I wanted to write this because I like making little scenarios in my head about this show so I thought why not make it into a story.
