Alastair's Garage

"And that's about the time that bitch hung up on me,"

As the band's vocalist began the second chorus, Max, their trusted lead guitarist strummed forth a harsh-sounding, yet energetic progression of chords, a somewhat staple of her playing style. It was a cover of a Blink-182 song anyway, it was almost second nature for her to go a little extra on the chorus.

"Nobody likes you when you're 23, and still are more amused by-"

"Prank Phone Calls," Max sang into her microphone at a higher tone than their lead vocalist, adding harmony to the lyric.

"What the hell is call ID? My friends say I should act my age,"

Max's fingers continued to slide up and down her Stratocaster's fretboard, hitting power chord after power chord as the chorus roared on in the confines of the band's grungy two-car garage.

"What's my age again? What's my age again?"

With the second chorus successfully played out, Max steeled herself for the upcoming bridge and final chorus. Sure, the bridge seemed simple, but the fact that the attention would now be shifted from Alastair, the band's vocalist, to her, put a bunch of pressure on her.

Pressure she really wasn't used to having.

Almost instinctively, she began pressing her callused fingers on the strings, starting slow as the bridge began. She quickly picked up the pace, fingering notes at lightning speed. Robbie's heavy Bass notes and Keith's Drum steady drumbeat soon joined her as the brief moment in the spotlight was coming to a close. But to hell with that mindset she thought, this last chorus could be an opportunity for everyone to shine, the song was about to end anyway, and the time to go full out was definitely now.

"And that's about the time she walked away from me,"

Alastair returned to the mic as the final chorus began, with Max and Yvonne adding harmonics to every last lyric he belted out.

"Nobody likes you when you're 23,"

Max knew her down strum was her forte, using it to its full effectiveness now while she could.

"And you still act like you're in freshman year, what the hell is wrong with me? My friends say I should act my age,"

"What's my age again? What's my age again?" Max sang into her mic as the song reached its climax.

"That's about the time that she broke up with me,"

"Please stay with me," Max harmonized, strumming onto her added vocals.

"No one should take themselves so seriously,"

"Please stay with me,"

"With many years ahead to fall in love,"

"Please stay with me,"

"Why would you wish that on me? I never wanna act my age,"

"Please stay with~ me~"
