"C'mon, Alecia, it's your last day at Alendale. Get up!"Mom ripped my blankets off of me and shook me awake. "Today's the day to say goodbye to your friends."
"Lookin' forward to it." I grunted and sat up.
What the heck, Mom? You come in here all cheery-peppy-awesome when you know I'm dying inside. You're picking up from school at 2:30 so we can catch a damn airplane to Miami. Does that sound okay to you? Apparently so. But not to me. Ever wonder how Alecia feels? Guess not, because you never express those feelings if you do. So go ahead, drag me off to Florida. Don't get me wrong, I care... But you don't. And that's the part that sets me off.
Done? Done. I stand up and get dressed. Than I shove some Frosted Flakes down my throat and board the noisy, puke-smelling, disgusting, unsanitary bus for the last time. I'll even miss the fat, greasy bus driver who seems like he's drunk all the time.
Kind of. I'll miss him in a 'special' way.
"Hear you're movin', Lisa," the bus driver said as I got on. "That sucks."
I nodded.
Thanks for the reassurance.
I sat in my usual seat, the fifth seat from the last seat on the left side.
"Hey, Alecia's moving today!" one of the idiots hollered. "She can't leave without a goodbye!!"
They started singing a song. But what they didn't know was that they were singing my favorite song.
Did you know that behind every girl's favorite song there is an untold story? Well, my untold story is that that very song was my mine and Dad's song. And now, I wasn't allowed to ever see him again because my mom was taking me to Florida.
My eyes teared up.
"Alecia, are you okay?" one of the idiots stopped singing.
"Yes, I'm fine."

When I got to school, my friends didn't come to my locker like they usually did. I kind of figured they'd be swarming around me to say goodbye, me moving to Miami that very day and all.
But they were all crowded around Josie Daniels's locker.
I put my backpack away and went to see what all the commotion was about. Josie was talking and all my friends were laughing.
"Um, hey guys," I said cheerfully, tapping my friend Ally on the shoulder. She turned to me and her eyes widened.
"A-Alecia? What are you doing here? I thought you were moving-?"
"Um, our flight leaves at 3:30 today," I said, not letting my sadness show.
How could she not remember? Why... How come.... Why aren't they.... What's going on?
Ally turned to Josie. "You said she left last night."
Josie shrugged. "I guess I was wrong."
I was still confused.
Ally said happily, "Josie invited us to sit by her at lunch today! Isn't that great?"
I cringed. Josie's table was considered the 'popular' table. My friends and I had always hated her and her friends because they were stuck-up. I pulled Ally aside.
"Just yesterday you were saying how snobby Josie and her gang were."
"That was before she started talking to me!" Ally squealed, and rushed back over to Josie.
At lunch, I sat by myself at our usual table. 2:15 rolled around and I was called to the office. I spent five minutes trying to say goodbye to my friends, but all I got was a nod and a 'bye'. Ally was the only one who said something to me out in the hall:
"I'll miss you, Alecia. I had to say that out here because Josie said its not a good idea to talk to you and stuff."
"Why are you suddenly doing everything she says?"
"I dunno."
"Why would she tell you not to talk to me?"
"She said your nose is too big, your hair is always messy, and you clothes are always out-of-date. She says we're too good to hang out with 'your kind'."
She gave me a quick hug, said, "Bye!" and left me there in frozen shock, unable to speak.
Josie came out into the hall, holding the bathroom pass.
"Oh, God, Alecia, are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine," I replied, and ran down the hall towards the front doors, where I got into my mom's car and drove away from Alendale forever.
