Chapter two: The black palace

Darkness always lingers, it's like you're best friend, it stays with you during you're lowest, and sticks with you on your highest, but it never goes away, it never disappears and leaves you behind, it's always there and it always will be, even if the light fades it away, it finds a way, it always finds a way—,

thats why i like darkness, though my eyes won't keep shut for as long as I want, darkness helps me find solace in the heat of things, the only thing that gives me peace anymore is darkness, closing my eyes keeping them, shut disappearing into another world made, solely of my thoughts, dreams, and desires. But it never lasts does it,

I don't know where these ancient thoughts keep coming from, I jolt my self upward, my limbs feel like rubber, my teeth feel stale, it leaves a sour-bitter tase in my mouth, where am I? I don't know, is this my new cell, where I am now kept? No, it almost feels like a luxury Inn,

I scan the room I see furniture gilded with gold, multiple crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, which are all painted with intricate designs in gold

I'm on a bed, pillows filling the space I'm not occupying, I'm tethered to a silk night gown embroidered with gold thread, it all seems unusual, I slowly get out of the bed, my feet hitting the cold marble floor as I land, quite un-gracefully.

Then I see in the corner of my eyes a gold bordered mirror sitting on a dresser near a window, for some reason it's alluring, my legs move without my permission, I close the distance between me and the dresser, and I stare at a face in the mirror,

this face looks unfamiliar, her face soft smooth, the lines of her jaw immaculate, her hair dark brown ripples flowing elegantly down her body, her eyes like honey dripping from her face shining in the sunlight making her come alive.

my trance is abruptly cut short when i here someone say, " My lady, it good to see you're awake "

i jump, startled, " who— who are you? " I manage to say indescribably shaking, " My name is Adina, I am the personal maid that has been assigned to you My lady "
She says taking a short courtesy
" are you feeling alright my lady "

" uhm— yes i'm fine thank you ", " Adina what am i doing here? " I manage to ask after a short pause,

she looks confused but answers my question " you're currently situated in Earnside palace My lady, the prince ordered you to be moved here" the prince— who, what, I have no time to think when Adina interrupts my thought " Breakfast starts in 30 minutes, we must haste my lady "
she says as she gently nudges me toward a door that i swear wasn't their before.

It's a bathroom, the floors white marble, the walls cream, the walls all have designs etched into them, there is a warm light illuminating the whole area, it's a fuzzy warm light, it brings me a little peace of mind, Adina already took the gown of my body, i'm naked again, bare, standing here like a statue, Adina clears her throat " My lady the bath is ready we must rush "

I hurry my self into the bath, it was warm, soothing, smelling like fresh gardenias and lavender, the smell is wonderful.

Adina scrubbed my body clean, my skin looks like it's glowing, almost surreal to me.

I'm supposed to pick an outfit now, I don't know anything about fashion, their are really pretty dresses in front of me one green laced with gold another plum with intricate silver designs flowing through it, but one really caught my eye, a simple dress,

It was gold, silver designs etched on every surface, I'm entranced, it's perfect— I don't know why it's perfect but it's drawing me in, telling me it's the one.
