*beep* *beep* The alarm clock on Juliana's desktop sounded. 6:45 a.m. It was Monday morning. Juliana had just hosted an all night marathon of Netflix and chips. She laid belly flat on her bed with drool damped on her sheets. She slowly blinks her eyes open, adjusting to the sunlight . *beep* *beep* She rubs her face and slowly gets up. She presses her alarm to silence. Getting out of bed, she uses her hand to brush away her blonde hair away from her face. She walks barefoot to her small bathroom. There she looks at herself in the mirror. Her lilac tank top is wrinkled and stained with peanut butter.

"Gross," she moaned. So she went on getting ready for school. Brushing her teeth. Using the pothole. And washing up. Finally she was somewhat awake. She looks at the mirror again, but this time more intently. Green eyes. Pale, round face. Her grandmother would say she looked like her mother. She shakes her head. Taking a hairbrush from the bathroom counter, she puts her long, stringy blonde hair into a high ponytail -as usual-. She walks back to her room and scavenges for clothes. Gray T. Faded pink jacket. Blue jeans. And a pair of old sneakers along with socks. She put them on without care. I'm such a fashionista! She goes to her vintage desk, grabbing her kindle, notepad, writing pouch and last week's assignments. Then her hand hesitates at her glasses. You don't need them. After a few seconds of thinking she grabs them. Putting on her round glasses, she spots her hand bag. Strapping herself with her items, she is ready to go. She glances over to the clock. 7:25. Crap. She races to the kitchen. There she found her grandmother sewing a quilt while listening to the radio.

"Morning Jewels," her grandmother said.

"Morning Granny!" She replied. She grabbed a cookie from the kitchen counter and shot to the door.

"Bye Granny," Juliana said as she opened the door.

"Bye Dear, oh and stay safe now!" Her Granny replied.

"Yes Granny," Juiliana finished. From there she bolted from her house to the bus stop. With her left hand on her bag and her right keeping the cookie in her mouth. Please be late. Please be late. She rounded left from her neighborhood corner. Then ran for two blocks. Then made a sharp left and crossed an empty road. There she spotted her bus. Yes! One more passenger was boarding. She pushed her legs and sprinted there. The bus was about to take off but she made it in time. Thank god. She had finished or dropped the cookie while she was running. Oops. She got on and smiled at the driver. She was an old graceful lady. Juliana made her way to the back, passing kids from middle and high school. Some she knew. Finally she slumped to the back and the bus was moving. She got out her kindle. Plugged in her ear buds and started to write while listening to music. She thought it was just another normal day but it most certainly wasn't. This day was marked to change her life forever.
