Chapter 1:
1864
Father had called all of his children to meet a very important guest. During dinner the evening before, he stated that a young lady, a grown woman, and the grown woman's little girl, would be staying with us for a little while. Mariangela didn't have a good feeling about this young lady coming. Her brothers Damon and Stefan Salvatore, had never fought for women but she knew it was bound to happen sooner or later.
Mariangela was dressed in one of her favourite dresses. Being her fathers only daughter, she was spoiled with dresses, shoes, jewelry and horses. Her dress was lavender coloured, silky, with an embellished bodice. Her hair was in its natural state, waves, and she finished her look off with rose pearls that had been a gift from her mother before she passed.
As she awaited the arrival of their guests, she heard a loud ruckus. Out came her brothers. Mariangela's younger-older brother Stefan had his hair slightly ruffled from playing ball with Damon, her oldest brother, who's hair was in perfect condition whereas his trousers were partially soiled unlike Stefan's which were clean.
"Father will be disappointed to see the manner in which you look." she began, scolding her brothers' appearance.
"Ah ah ah." Damon said, preventing her from finishing her speech. "He maybe our father, but he can not prevent us from doing as we please."
Mariangela looked away, trying to resist the urge to roll her eyes which was a very unladylike thing to do as mother had said long ago.
A was carriage soon in front of them, being pulled by beautiful white horses. Mariangela had always loved horses and she recently received one of her own. Her's was a light grey stallion, who she named Dusk as it was at dusk when she received the beauty. To her, horses resembled grace and agility, two things that would not normally be put together. When she was riding her horse, she was free. Free of being ladylike and free of her father's stern commands. Horses were her escape.
She was soon pulled out of her thoughts as an older lady came out of the carriage with her daughter. The daughters name was Annabelle as her mother's name was Pearl. Lastly, stepped out a beautiful young lady, her hair dark and wavy and her eyes a warm brown colour.
As her brothers gawked at the last passenger of the horse-drawn carriage, Mariangela took it upon herself to begin with introductions.
"Hello," she began,"you must be Lady Pearl, Miss Annabelle, and Lady Katherine. I am Mariangela Salvatore and these are my brothers Damon and Stefan." Mariangela said, curtsying.
"Yes we are. Thank you for welcoming us into your lovely home and its a pleasure to meet you. " Lady Pearl said, curtsying in return.
Lady Pearl seemed very nice and very proper and Annabelle seemed a little shy but Mariangela was sure they'd soon be friends. Lady Katherine on the other hand was limitlessly flirting with Damon and Stefan. They seemed under her control or something along the lines of that but she thought nothing of it. All she could think of was the fact that the day that Damon and Stefan would fight for a woman was nearing. And it was something she couldn't prevent. It was something that would tear her brothers apart for decades to come.
