Unexpected To Say The least

Synopsis: Nobara and Yuji find it had that you and Megumi are just and only friends. Often in times when the two of you are alone they're always following. At the peak of annoyance by the two you concoct a plan to pretend you and Megumi are dating so that you can be alone for your own selfish needs. Though things go all too well and you find yourself eavesdropping on the biggest secret of the century.

. . .

Arms guarded his chest, crossed over in frustration feeling the eyes crawl up his back and your own. A scowl lingered upon his lips and every time he caught Yuji and Nobara shuffling forward behind you as if their so- called spying wasn't obvious Fushiguro Megumi would let out a "tsk" underneath his breath in annoyance. Shopping bags had a field day in the folds of fabric accumulated at his elbow, majority of them were yours from the Harajuku shops and miscellaneous street shops.

'You know.' you start off, the dwindling number of bags that you kept on your personal are held in front of you by both your hands, your feet dancing as you walk causing your body to slightly sway, to say the lease the topic you were about to brush on, embarrassing would be an understatement, 'They're just going to keep doing this aren't they?'

'Mhm.' a short reply leaves his lips,

You sigh, staring up at the overpass as the two of you duck under it, 'They think something is going on- between us two-' 'Mhm.' 'Then we should say there's something going on between us two.'

You can hear the sound of his heel stopping mid step, his hands both finding themselves parked in his pant pocket, his eyes watching the back of your head as you begin to stop in the sudden realization that he wasn't walking beside you.

'What do you mean?'

You can't make eye contact with him as he pressures you to reveal your little plan, while it was concocted to stop Yuji and Nobara from following the two of you around as if there was something romantic going on that they didn't know. It was actually made because you had a crush on the boy and maybe it would be nice pretending that it was actually true. Your head spins and focuses on the crowd in front of you moving between other occupants of the space that had also stopped for one reason or another.

Your voice is a stuttering mess, 'I- mean... like pretend that we're a couple or something and then they'll stop following us and bugging us. Just a suggestion.' as you slightly turn your head you meet with the prominent image of his face in thinking,

'If it gets them to leave us alone then fine.' he mutters,

Bags are shuffled in his hand before his dominant left hand pulls your right away from the handles of your bags. His fingers explore your hand, pushing your partially closed hand open and allowing his fingers to slip between yours with ease as you let him. You shuffle closer to him as you begin to walk, hearing Nobara's gleeful cheer and the celebration the two took even after Nobara yelled at Yuji to cough up the money he owed her for getting the bet wrong.

'Are they watching?' he questions you,

Your head slightly turns and in your peripheral vision you see the pair wonder off as if they're excitement had been downgraded to mediocre. Your face brushes his shoulder just in case they were watching before you turn around seeing his cheeks lightly dusted.

'Nope.'

Your grip loosens expecting him to let go of your hand as they weren't watching but he doesn't. It's tighter as if he wants to hold your hand. You lace your fingers between his and squeeze his hand as if you were his actual girlfriend. Face burning you were sure it was going to explode any second. As your face eases and holding the usually stoic boy's hand becomes somewhat normal, you give in to what you desire. You head resting upon the fabric sleeve of his shoulder as you mumble odds and ends about random things that didn't make sense but somewhat did.

'Oii. Lovebirds time to go home!' Nobara shouts, her temper mostly because the heat had picked up, her feet hurt and she had spoken to a brainless idiot for the majority of the shopping trip.

Gojo sensei waved profusely behind Nobara and Yuji, his arm overwhelmed with bags from sweet shops enough to make a grown man go broke. The only time you unraveled your fingers from Megumi's soft touch was to greet Nobara again. The two of you have a tradition of sitting next to each other on the car ride home and though under the circumstances of today you didn't want to force the fake relationship you and Megumi had on anyone. Though secretly Fushiguro wanted it to be as real as you wanted it to be.

. . .

Ecstatic, your forgetful fingers slide the mountain of tissue paper to one side of the bag, clenching around the garment you couldn't remember buying. You were eager to see what was in the last bag of your eventful shopping trip. As you yank the garment out of the bag shutting your eyes in excitement, it feels too big and too heavy to be something you bought. Your eyes open, studying the black hoodie for a moment confused on why you would buy something a few sizes too big for you when you already had a black hoodie in your size.

An audible gulp follows your realization. A sweat droplet runs down your temple as you stare upon Fushiguro's new hoodie that must have gotten muddled up in your bags when he gave you the rest of your bags back once you got onto school grounds. It wasn't to say you were nervous about seeing him again, just rather nervously excited and worried at the same time. Worried that he'll say he doesn't want to participate in your little scheme and nervously excited that he'll hold your hand again or go a little further.

It wasn't that late, and as you waddled down the empty dormitory building except for you four first years in your summer pajamas. You expect to be greeted by silence as you stare at his door but that's not the case.

'So Y/n eh?'

Gojo's voice is heard muffled though still relentlessly teasing Megumi through the paper thin walls. They're talking about you. You press your hand to the door to hear the conversation better, knowing it's wrong but the intrigue got the best of you. The hoodie plucked by its sleeve as it's weakly held floating above the ground. You listen in.

'What about her?' Megumi questions,

You can hear Gojo snicker, 'Don't play dumb, I saw you holding her hand. Care to tell me about it?'

'It was nothing.'

It was not. It's beginning to slip out of your fingers as you listen in.

'The blush still residing on your face says otherwise Megumi. What- you like her?'

It's slipping further and you still don't notice, you're holding onto it by a thread.

'I like he-' Thud!!

You stare at it in horror. It's bundled up upon the ground and stops Megumi mid conversation knowing someone is listening in. The hoodie sits in a hot mess, there's a few footsteps and a creak of a bed like someone is getting up and you knew you to get out. Picking up in haste you bolt down the corridor before they could get to the door. Your heart pacing, sweat dripping off your brow. The hoodie barely crosses the threshold of your door before you slam it shut.

Your forehead gently presses itself against the wooden grain in relief. It's the first time you can catch your breath. The hoodie is squeezed between your left hand as your right is firmly planted against the door. Your chest moves up and down in what is the moment of relief. Your eyes switch back and forth to the door down to your feet. There's no audible footsteps down the corridor, a soft breeze touches your back and after a few moments standing there you let out the biggest sigh of relief knowing you hadn't been caught or had you?

You let go of the door and take your full body weight. The hoodie mangled between your clutches in anxiety that was beginning to reside. You had gotten away with it. You smiled ear to ear staring at the door....

'I knew that was you...'
