"Wake up," I say hitting João in the face with a pillow.

He groans, "babeeee."

"No, don't babe me, I've been trying to wake you up for over an hour, each time you tell me you're getting up in five and you never do," I say, "if you're not up in five I'm dumping cold water on you."

I walk back out of the room to give him a few moments. We were supposed to go out for breakfast, but I think at this rate we're just staying in. I plop myself on the couch scrolling through Instagram.

I sigh getting off the couch knowing João is still in bed. I walk over to the sink grabbing a glass from the cabinet and I begin filling it with cold water. I will regret nothing, he has a busy day ahead, he should not be in bed still.

"Cold water coming in," I say as I walk towards the room.

"I'm up," he says rapidly getting out of the bed. "I thought you were joking," he says as he sees me come in with the glass in hand.

"You've been in bed far too long," I say, "and you've got your presentation today."

"Right," he groans getting dressed.

"I'm seriously concerned for your future at the club," I mumble.

"Why ?" He laughs, "we haven't started yet, this is just because I'm meant to be on vacay," he does a little dance.

"What were you two even doing up so late ?" I ask.

"Playing video games," he shrugs and I roll my eyes shaking my head. "Would you rather us be at each other's throats or be friends ?" He asks.

"I would rather you focus," I groan.

"I am focused," he says, "believe me, I am, but I'm still on break."

"Your break ended yesterday," I say.

"I lost track of time," he shrugs, "besides, my presentation isn't til 2 in the afternoon."

"Oh I'm so sorry, baby, did I wake you ?" I mock him, "can you wake me up early, we should go out for breakfast."

"Fuck," he mumbles, "it's starting to come back to me. I'm sorry," he says pulling me in for a hug and kissing the top of my head, "you have permission to dump the water on me."

"That's it ?" I ask.

"Yeah, I mean it'll take me a second to get dressed again, but I promised breakfast and I'll deliver," he pulls away.

"No," I laugh setting the glass on the nightstand, "I mean, that's it, no 'you should've told me earlier' ?"

"Jesus, what the fuck did he do to you ?" He asks.

"Oh you know, the usual toxic relationship," I shrug.

"I'm really annoyed with you for putting up with that," he says. "Yeah, we may both have gotten cheated on, but I stayed because I genuinely thought she loved me, she treated me well, I wanted to be naive. You should have left; people that love you don't treat you the way he treated you."

"Yeah, thanks for making me feel more stupid than I already feel," I groan sitting on the bed.

"That's not my intent," he says sitting next to me, "I'm just trying to say you shouldn't settle for something you don't deserve."

"Clearly I don't think that's an issue I will be having anymore," I smile at him.

"No, it's definitely not," he says pulling me in for a kiss.

"You ready to go ?" I ask pulling away.

"You're not gonna dump the water on me ?" He asks.

"Tempting," I admit, "perhaps after breakfast."
