Being new to the corps, I didn't know many people; I always found communication difficult. I decided to join when my friend was torn apart by a demon. I would have died if it wasn't for him.

~~~one year earlier~~~
(Heavy breathing) blood ran down my face. Warm, fresh blood. But not my blood. The vision of my friends lifeless pale face covered in wounds seered my mind. My knees shook from the terror as i tried to outrun the otherworldly beast. To no avail it caught up and stopped me in my tracks. I fell to the floor and scuffled backwards. "No!" I yelled. The beast ignoring my cries went for the kill. All of a sudden; a change of wind occured, a drastic one. A warm breeze blessed my skin as it heavily comtrasted the demon's cold aura. Up towards the sky above the demon's head, came a shiny green metal swinging down. The demon's head slided from its neck. "Gah!" The demon shreiked as it's corpse burned to ash and floated away. I made eye contact with the strange figure who saved me. Surprisingly enough, the man hadn't even broke a sweat decapitating the monster. He stared at me coldly and walked away.
~~~present~~~

It was evening. A cold evening. Like the one that night. My breath steamed as i was on duty outdoors.
BANG!
A demon leapt out and grabbed me, throwing me through the doors of shinobu's hospital. I tried dodging peices of falling debris. Coughing, i regained a sense of balance and stood to my feet. The figure fixed itself into a pose ready to attack. I drew my blade and gritted my teeth awaiting another blast. It came. It came fast. As i swung my katana its arm came off. Not taking long it grew one back. Like a flea it persistently hopped from place to place, sparing no peice of furniture caught in its devastating trail. it jumped towards me once more, i swung and hit its throat. I tried pushing but it jumoed back and ran away. A gold light flooded the room, the sun had risen. The light dimmered, i had collapsed.

~~the afternoon~~

I slowly opened my, regaining conscience. Shinobu stood beside the bed preparing medicines as usual. "Oh my! It seems your awake, unlike the other one hehe!" She laughed. "
"The other one?" I enquired. Shinobu pointed to something under the blanket, my body being too numb to have noticed it earlier. I gently raised the white blanket to see a man huddling on me, the man had white hair and an array of scars running through his face. He was asleep. "He was sent to deal with a lower kizuki and the attack last night destroyed all the other beds so you'll have to share for now!" Shinobu said while leaving. Escaping the man's grasp i sat up and dangled my legs over the edge of the bed. "Ah!" I yelled as i was pulled back down. Two muscly arms; also decorated with scars; pinned me into the man's chest. I tried wriggling but it didnt work, he was too strong, strong like a hashira! I gasped as i realised it was the wind hashira: sanemi shinazugawa. I tried pushing away again. Sanemi opened his eyes and stared intently into mine, his lavender eyes drawing me in. "Stop wriggling!" he sighed as he forcefully squeezed me harder."h-hey let go, don't fall asleep on me, ah!...ugh!' i said. Sanemi fell asleep. Not realising, i had dozed off too.

~~the next day~~

I woke up feeling well-rested and comfy. I was warm and no longer in pain. Sanemi was still clinging on to me like a teddy bear. I looked up and seem him staring at me. When he realised i was awake he immediately looked away and became slightly reddened in the cheeks. "M-morning." He said.
"Goodmorning." I responded. An awkward silence descended. I got out of bed and shivered to the cold. It was snowing. Sanemi came up to me and placed the blanket on my shoulders. "What are you doing?" I asked.
"You'll get a cold!" He responded while trying to hide his own responses to the chilly atmosphere. "Here" i said as i walked up to him and grabbed an end of the blanket. I handed it to him. He slowly got under the blanket with me. We sat on the bed as we watched the summer snow through the window. He occasionally glamced over his shoulder at me and always looked away if i stared back. He cuddled into me once again. "Cut it out-" i said. "Just stay still. I can't sleep otherwise!" He responded. To stop me from kicking my way out he huddled his legs around mine and completely pinned me. To no surprise he fell asleep and so did I.
