As days turned into weeks, Zooble's inner turmoil only grew worse! They couldn't even think straight, their admiration for Gangle was eating away at Zooble, causing sleepless nights and unfocused thoughts. They even began to slip up on their words, almost exposing themselves in front of everyone they thought about confiding in Pomni since she was the only one that knew about their feelings but they halted that idea, Pomni had her own struggles, she didn't need Zooble's piled onto them!
They knew they had to continue on with Caines' daily announcements and adventure, but it seemed so hard to even leave the room without the fear of messing up and spilling their feelings they were definitely not ready for.
Suddenly, the door opened. To no surprise, it was Jax.
"G-what do you want?!" Zooble grouched, almost slipping up their sentence. They crossed their arms, expecting Jax's usual shenanigans and such.
"What is up with you? You literally can't even speak right half the time!" Jax claimed, his voice sounding genuinely concerned for once.
"It's nothing, Jax!" Zooble grumbled. They didn't want anyone other than Pomni to find out, especially not Jax. He would most likely tell everyone just to embarrass them.
Jax began tapping his foot on the ground, unconvinced by their response. "Come on, Zooble. I can tell something's been bothering you. It's been going on for weeks now! Spill it!" Jax said, pointing his hand at them.
Zooble's heart raced as they fought to keep their feelings hidden. They needed to stay unknown to the rest, not until they were ready to tell Gangle, but Jax was persistent and Zooble couldn't hold it in any longer.
"I F@#^$&%G LIKE GANGLE OKAY?!" Zooble blurted out before pausing, realizing what they had just said.
Jax paused, looking at them for a moment, wide eyed as the secret came out
"Wow, I did not see that coming," Jax finally spoke through the shocked expression on his face. "And here I was thinking you were just constipated or something," Jax said, trying to lighten up the mood
That only made Zooble glare already frustrated on what they'd done "I swear, if you tell anyone, I will rip you ears off!" Zooble shouted angrily.
Jax held up his hands to his chest. "Relax, relax. Your secret's safe with me," he said, trying to reassure Zooble.
Zooble sighed. "I just...I don't know what to do about it. Gangle is so......" Zooble stopped, unable to describe their love for Gangle
"Attractive, prepossessing, pulchritudinous, ravishing, winsome, splendiferous, bewitching, eye-catching?" Jax named a bunch of different words to finish off Zooble's sentence.
"What are you, a walking thesaurus?" Zooble said, even through their attitude,they felt a bit lighter
"Maybe, maybe not." Jax teased jokingly
"So.... what are you gonna do know?" Jax asked, not knowing what else to really say
"I just don't want things to be awkward between us," Zooble admitted
"Well, personally, I think you should talk to Gangle about it." Jax suggested teasingly
Zooble rolled their eyes at Jax's suggestion. "Yeah, no thanks. I'd rather not embarrass myself any further," they retorted.
"Well, it's better than nothing. You know what bottling up feelings leads to in this place, right?" Jax replied
Zooble remained silent, considering Jax's words. Maybe he had a point. Maybe it was time to face their fears and have an honest conversation with Gangle.
Zooble sighed, knowing that Jax was right. "Fine, I'll think about it." They agreed, still a little uncertain.
"Jax grinned. "Good! Oh, and don't worry, I won't tell anyone about your little crush." Jax said, twinkling his fingers
"Thanks, Jax," Zooble sighed. They watched the purple rabbit leave before looking back at the floor, deep in thought. They knew Jax was right, they couldn't keep avoiding the inevitable.
