"Damn, I got no sleep."
I mumble to myself while I sit up on my bed and stretch my back, I sigh as some of my back joints crack.
I feel like an old lady...

I usually go to sleep early on weekdays, and I mean like at 1 or 2 a.m. when I don't continue my researches or do my 'missions' if we could call them like that.

Yesterday, I had almost zero sleep, I came back at home at 3 a.m., I had to shower to remove the blood stains on my hair and face, and of course, the nightmares won't leave me alone.

I still have the same one since I was 6, it had played in my head over and over again that I almost don't react to it anymore.
It shows the day my mother died, I was six, and for that, I can't remember all the details.

It always starts the same.
Me and my mom going out for groceries in the evening of a sunny day in the middle of spring, the sun was setting and it coloured the sky of a beautiful tone of orange and it painted the clouds pink.
The air was filled with the perfume of flowers and pollen.
She was holding my hand, while in the other, she carried the groceries' bag.

We were walking back home in a quiet yet peaceful alleway as a group of men ambushed us, one of them had a gun.
I remember that i was confused, I asked my mom who those guys were and what they wanted, but she didn't respond to me.
She pulled me behind her and, with a trembling tone begged the man when he aimed the gun towards us.

He didn't hesitate, he shot, she fell to the ground, and the next thing I know I'm on my knees, pulling my mother's corpse up and crying my heart out, screaming for help.

After 15 years, all these men are out of jail, but i still can't forgive them, especially the man behind all of what happened, Hades.

For a long time, almost a year, his face was all over the news for what he did, and I couldn't stand seeing his face again and again, it only brought back terrifying memories. Yet, it made me more and more determined to do something about it, especially now that his sentence is over.

I prepare myself a coffee, hoping it would help me stay awake, at least at work, but I know I need more than one.

After that, I put on a normal office outfit, I feel like a total black one today.
I chose to wear a black blouse with some ruffles and high waisted elephant black pants. Since it's very cold outside, I put on my long black coat on, too.

I always want to be at my best at work since I'm the manager's daughter

I always want to be at my best at work since I'm the manager's daughter.

My father is the manager of a famous and respected economy company, and of course, I work with him.

In his career he made lots of money, and that's why he blamed the murder of his wife on himself, thinking that the murderers wanted to take cash from him in some way: they knew my dad was off limits because he was always with a group of bodyguards when he left his office or he went on work trips, so, they preferred to target me and my mother.

After a not so long drive, I arrived at The Ashcroft's Offices.
I'll always love the architecture of the offices.
It almost looks like an old Greek palace, but, with still a hint of modernism, and the enterior goes on dark shades of grey and brown.

In the main entrance, I scrutinize Ivy.
She is a receptionist but also my secretary and my only friend.
It seems like she was waiting for me, she is staring at me while I enter the building, going through the glass sliding door, and then, she gestures me to reach her with a smile on her face.

"Hey, Sophie." She squares me, her eyes going up and down my figure, "Sexy as always, I see!" She says laughing.

Ivy is always the same... she doesn't take things so seriously, and sometimes she can be a real pain in the ass for me.
Anyway, her 'compliment' makes me smile.

I chuckle while putting my hand on my hip, "So, do you have anything serious or you want to waste my time?" I joke.

Ivy laughs while she sits back down on her office chair.
"Yeah, I have something to tell you, actually." She pauses to organise some sheets on her desk, "Your old man wants to see you in his office in about 5 minutes."

My eyes widen.
My father never convoked me in his office unless it's a very important thing, I have to admit that I'm a little concerned.
Could he possibly have found out about my murders?

"Do you know anything else?" I try to calm myself down.
"Hm... I saw that he had a big guy following him." She says while focusing if she knew something more.
"That's all."

Oh... well, I'm more than concerned now.
"Mh, okay, thanks, Ivy." I smile at her while turning to reach the elevators, and she waves as me.

My dad's office is obviously on the last floor of the building. It took 3 minutes to reach it.
Anyways, I knock at his office door, and then I enter.
