The next morning, Jimmy pulled up outside Joss's house, honking lightly to signal his arrival. It was their usual routine, a daily ritual that provided a semblance of normalcy in Joss's otherwise turbulent life. Joss stepped out of his house, his expression somber and heavy with the remnants of the previous night's altercation with his father.
"Morning, man," Jimmy greeted, noticing Joss's long face. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," Joss replied, forcing a small smile. "Just didn't sleep well."
Jimmy gave him a concerned glance but decided not to press further. They drove in comfortable silence to Neo's house. As usual, Neo was waiting at the curb, his infectious energy apparent even from a distance.
"Hey, losers!" Neo called out, hopping into the car. "Ready to conquer another thrilling day of higher education?"
Jimmy rolled his eyes. "You mean ready to sleep through Professor Tha’s class again?"
Neo smirked. "Hey, I can't help it if his voice is like a lullaby."
Joss chuckled, the banter lifting his spirits slightly. "Let's just hope you don't get caught this time."
As they arrived at the university, Neo went to the toilet as he had a stomachache. After successfully doing his business, he glanced at his watch and realized he was already late. "Crap, it's Professor Tha's class! I gotta go!" Neo exclaimed, sprinting toward the lecture hall.
In his haste, Neo collided with someone coming from the opposite direction. The impact sent an iced coffee flying, its cold contents showering the unsuspecting victim.
"What the hell?" the victim, Phuwin, exclaimed, his voice rising in fury. "คุณเป็นบ้าอะไร?" (What the hell is wrong with you?)
Neo looked horrified. "Oh man, I'm so sorry! I didn’t see you!"
Phuwin glared at him, his colorful scarf now stained with coffee. "Sorry? Do you think 'sorry' is going to clean this mess up?"
Neo, glancing at his watch, groaned. "Look, I’m really sorry, but I'm super late for class. Can we talk about this later?"
Phuwin grabbed Neo’s arm, not letting him go so easily. "Oh no, you don’t get to just run away after ruining my outfit."
Neo tried to pull his arm free. "Seriously, I’ll make it up to you! Just let me go!"
But Phuwin wasn’t having it. "No way, you're going to pay for this right now!"
Neo, rolling his eyes in frustration, finally managed to yank his arm free and darted off. "I promise I’ll make it up to you!" he yelled over his shoulder.
Phuwin watched him go, seething. As Neo ran, Phuwin noticed the leftover coffee still in the cup. A mischievous grin spread across his face. "You asked for it," he muttered, hurling the remaining coffee at the fleeing Neo.
The coffee splashed onto Neo’s back, stopping him in his tracks. He turned around, furious. "What the hell, man?"
Phuwin smirked, crossing his arms. "Consider it payback. And don’t think I’m done with you."
Neo glared, his anger rising. "Fine, you win this round. But I’ll get you back for this."
Phuwin simply waved him off, walking away with a triumphant grin. "I’ll be waiting," he called over his shoulder.
Neo shook his head, muttering to himself as he hurried to Professor Tha's class. "Great, just what I needed. A new enemy."
Inside the lecture hall, Jimmy and Joss had already taken their seats. Jimmy noticed Neo's wet back and raised an eyebrow. "What happened to you?"
