When we last left our Peanuts Gang, Charlie Brown, Roy, Tommy, Peppermint Patty, Marcie and Lucy went to camp, with Marcie once again having to deal with Floyd, his self-proclaimed Lambcake.
Now, these six were making their way home.
"I can't wait to meet up with that Little Red-Haired Girl again." Said Charlie Brown.
"At least I won't have to deal with that lambcake anymore." Lucy sighed.
"Come on, Lucille! It was just a name!" said Peppermint Patty.
"At least I won't have to deal with that Floyd calling me that name anymore, Sir." Marcie added.
"You're weird, Marcie." Peppermint Patty sighed.
As the bus stopped outside the bus stop, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Marcie, Peppermint Patty and Tommy got an amazing surprise.
"Welcome back!" everyone shouted.
"Good grief! I didn't expect any of this!" Charlie Brown exclaimed.
"Neither did I!" said Tommy.
Heather walked up to Charlie Brown and hugged him.
"Oh, Charlie Brown! How I missed you!" the Little Red-Haired Girl said happily.
Sally joined in.
"I missed you, Big Brother! I hope you had fun!" Sally said.
Frieda walked up to Tommy and hugged him.
"Hope you enjoyed yourself, Tommy!" Frieda smiled.
Katie the Little Pigtailed Girl joined in.
"Hope you had fun, Cuz." Katie said.
"I missed you too, Katie." Tommy said.
Another homecoming game was approaching, and Charlie Brown, Linus, Schroeder, Roy, Franklin, Peppermint Patty, Shermy, Pig-Pen and several other kids were training. Heather, Frieda, Violet, Patty Swanson and Janice were training as cheerleaders to cheer their team on.
"Say, where's Tommy?" wondered Charlie Brown.
"Don't you remember, Chuck?" said Peppermint Patty. "Tommy said he doesn't like football. That's why he's not on our team."
"Such a shame. I was looking forward to cheering him on." Frieda sighed.
"Well, at least Lucy isn't here." Said Charlie Brown.
"What..... do you mean, Chuck?" wondered Peppermint Patty.
"Because of the last homecoming game, where she kept pulling the football away from me." Charlie Brown remembered.
"Really? I don't recall Lucille pulling the football away." Said Peppermint Patty.
"Is that so?" asked Charlie Brown.
What nobody noticed was that there was a mysterious figure lurking in the shadows.
"They'll find out soon enough."
When training was over, Charlie Brown walked out on an open field where Lucy was slyly holding the football.
"Charlie Brown! Oh, Charlie Brown!" cajoled Lucy.
"Oh, good grief! Not this again!" Sighed Charlie Brown.
"I've been hearing about this upcoming football game, so I've been thinking I should train you some more." Lucy said.
"Oh no you don't!" Charlie Brown said. "You'll just pull the football away from me, causing me to land on my back."
"I promise, Charlie Brown. If you kick this football, I'll buy you a new pair of shoes."
