It's starts from when Severus and you were in school. Voldemort didn't exist. Severus's parents were still abusive. He was never in love with Lily Evans. He only loved her as a Sister. But that doesn't mean James's bullying stops.
Severus, Lily and you were a trio. But then Lily began to grow closer to James Potter and started dating him. Severus was heartbroken.
