we don't have to talk about it
_____Monday, Feb. 9 | Alyjah
By Monday, no one had seen or heard from Alyjah. Not even her own sister, Naomi, could get through to her. She stayed cooped up in her room the entire weekend, consumed in her own thoughts.
Not only did she cheat on her boyfriend, who she genuinely loved and cared about, she also hurt her best friend. One moment of confusion and lust blew her life up.
It felt like an internal bomb had been designated. It was one that no one else could see, but she felt entirely too much.
She needed time to herself and her thoughts, but Monday came back around quickly.
"Wassup sleepy head." She felt someone shake her freshly pressed hair from the roots, making her smack their hand away.
She looked up to Jaydens tall frame, towering over her as he began to sit at the empty seat beside her in the cafeteria. He only laughed as she mugged him intensely.
"You always trying to mess with me." With attitude she patted her hair back flat.
Jayden smiled widely at her, "Isn't that what I'm here for?"
Alyjah rolled her eyes, mushing his face, turning it to the face the other direction.
"Jayden is genuinely like," Naomi paused, taking a big sip from her applesauce packet. "the older brother that no one asked for."
Everyone else at the table laughed, not expecting her to have said that.
"Maybe I'm the one y'all need. What's with the baby food, toddler?" He placed his elbows on the table, turning his head to the side in confusion.
"Oo, clock it." Tahj said faintly, looking back and forth between the two.
Dominique scrunched her face at him, "Stop being messy," chuckling as she put a nacho in her mouth.
