Hailey;

15 chapters later and I'm in my car.

Today will suck.

Christian was right. As he always is. It's like he holds the cards of today's, actually every day's, of people's emotions. Maybe just my emotions. The funny thing is he doesn't even notice. He's smiling while I'm still looking.

I park my car right next to my dad's and go inside. I hear laughs and people talking in the salon. I take of my shoes because who walks with shoes inside their house? Crossing the hallway and when I appear in the doorway Christian's head turns my way. It's like he can feel my presence. My eyes immediately search his. I don't need to search though, I know exactly where he is. It's like two magnets that were slipped from God's hands into ours and now we are always drawn to each other, like an invisible string holding us on the same line while also being on total different ones.

He's holding eye contact until his dad notices me, Richard Volkov. He looks heartwarming but in reality he could be your biggest nightmare. He holds a lot of strings of a lot of people's future. I like him. I think. Depends on the day. Sometimes he's nice and sometimes he's as scary as the dark. Never got completely used to the dark, never got completely used to him.

"Hailey, I thought you wouldn't make it. I'm glad you did." He says while walking up to me, giving me the three formal kisses, two on the left, one on the right. Never different. You wouldn't expect anything else from a man with probably some OCD tendencies.

"Of course I made it, imagine not catching up with my favorite family friend. I had some school work that I still needed to finish. So I went to the library." I said while giving him a genuine smile.

Before he can respond Sophia notices me. She smiles but her smile doesn't reach her eyes. She was never fond on me. Evil twin, remember? I give her a full smile back. Killing their happiness with yours is the easiest way to bug someone. Cliché, I know I know but true though.

Not only Christian and his parents are here but his four brothers are also sitting in the backyard. These idiots are drinking beer. I like most of them, they're cool. Justin is my favorite, he's down to earth even when his father has more money than God. He's the middle child, they are always my favorite.

Then there's Cole, he's the cocky, flashy and youngest guy of the family Volkov. I never liked him. I also have a feeling that the feeling is mutual. He was always interested in my older sister, he never got her tough. His older brother Christian was picked out to marry her. Gross when I think about it, my sister doesn't even know..

Then the oldest one, Eric. He's married already. He has a beautiful wife, Issabella. She's Russian and the sweetest girl I've ever met. She kinda different, not the normal type of girl you usually see in our types of families. She never liked this small town where everyone is up in your business. I want to move away from here as soon as possible. I hate small towns. Her husband Eric is also a cool, chill guy. Great conversation maker.

While all the boys in the backyard don't notice me, Richard started to make some small talk after I double checked Christian. He was not looking at me anymore. He was talking to my sister. She laughs, he laughs. They don't like each other. My sister doesn't like boys but does like to make a good impression. She likes attention but hates it when they want more than just looking or talking to her. He fakes it and we both know, me and him. He doesn't like safe. He never liked anything his parents told him they want. He never says it out loud but I know.

The moment I realised he's not going to publicly acknowledge me i started to ignore him. I know why he doesn't do it but it stings nonetheless. I started focusing on what Richard was saying and after 5 minutes or so that ended.
