Astushi's parents were no longer with him, he doesn't know why and he doesn't know what happened. They might be alive, they might be dead. Either way, he was sent to an Orphanage at a very young age, and by the time he reached seven, he couldn't even remember them; not a name, not a face, not a personality. He felt broken. He thought and hoped with his whole heart that his Orphanage Headmaster would be nice. And he was, just not to him. To the other kids, he would accept apologies and not be quick to judge. For him, he would force Atsushi to hammer a nail into his own foot, causing it to bleed just because he suspects him for stealing a singular sweet with absolutely no evidence.
It's the other kids, too. They're not as bad, but one day, they saw Atsushi's gorgeous hair, and decided to pin him down and cut his front hair so it's slanted and not as pretty. Over the years this really bugged him, but he couldn't do anything about it unless he wanted his whole head shaved. He also couldn't stop the headmaster, because his authority was too high and people won't listen to him. He never told anyone.
One time, the Headmaster locked him up in a filing cabinet for two weeks straight, not giving him any food. His only source of water was the small amount dripping down from the broken pipe that he was tied to. He saw the door open, the man standing behind it, arms crossed.
His heart sunk - was he back to hurt him more? He hid head under his arm, whispering quietly, peering above his wrist to see the Headmaster moving closer. "Hello, Atsushi." He said in a cold voice, sending shivers down the boy's spine.
He prepared himself for the worst; a needle to the hand/foot, a sharp metal scraping across his skin, a spiked bat to the head, etc. But he got lucky. A clinking sound like a chain breaking, filled his ears. The handcuffs were taken off him and he was painfully pulled to his feet.
Though he was removed from that small cupboard, he was still stuck in the hell that was the Orphanage. He'll never be free. He'll live in pain and punishment his whole life. What is the purpose of him even being alive - what's the point? These thoughts wander through his mind on the daily. What's worse, the other kids always blame him for things he didn't do, and get him into serious trouble.
One day, the Orphanage Director just gave up with taking care of him - that's what he thought. Atsushi was probably getting too used to his life. The Director stood before him, telling him that he's going to be kicked out and that he has no reason to cry, for he was never loved.
