Movie: MVP ~ Most Valuable Primate ( Kevin Zegers )

I was watching the news, when they started talking about something I could hardly believe. There was a missing chimpanzee, and it was here in Nelson, BC! One fact about me; I absolutely LOVE any type of monkey.

I was getting ready to go to my brother, Stosh's, hockey game. They haven't won a game for the past 5 seasons, and it's pretty embarrassing. But I heard they've got a new player, so that's pretty exciting.

As I entered the arena, I couldn't help but feel a jolt of happiness. I grew up with ice, and I started playing ringette when I was 5.

I sat next to a quiet girl, with long, straight brown hair. I waved at her, and I realized as I started talking to her that she was deaf. So, I started using sign language for her. I knew sign language because my dad was also deaf.

I learned that her name was Tara, and that she can lip read and can even talk a little bit. She said her brother was Steven Westover, who happened to be the new kid on the team. As the Nuggets thundered onto the ice, she pointed him out for me. He was quite far away, but I could tell that he had bright blue eyes that stood out. He was fairly small, but was a really good skater.

Stosh was knitting on the bench, so I went over.

"Stosh! Get on the ice and warm up!" I scolded him. He was older than me by a year, but sometimes it felt like he was 5 years old.

He obeyed and skated onto the ice, colliding with a player from the other team. I just laughed as the other guy fell over. The game started, and the other team won the face off, and raced down the ice. They made a pass across the crease, and the puck soared past Magoo. The crowd booed, and I threw my hands up at Stosh, who was Magoo's strongest defense. He just shrugged and skated to the blue line.

It was Steven's first shift, and he took the face off. We won it, and I was surprised. He made a pass up to the left wing, who passed it back to him. He slipped through two guys who tried to hit him, and he was on a breakaway. Tara and I got on our feet and started cheering, and when the puck went into the net, the whole auditorium was screaming.

We ended up getting our first win of all time. We won 3-2, and when the final buzzer went, our team cheered like they had won the championships.

"Good game, Stosh." I said, hugging him when he came out of the dressing room. I was here mainly because I wanted to make sure Tara got home safely, but I also wanted to meet Steven. He looked pretty cute from my spot on the bleachers.

When he stepped out of the dressing room, I got a strong blast of axe body spray. Tara hugged him and signed "good game" to him. He signed "thanks" back.

"Alright, I have to get out of here. Later, Tara." I signed to Tara.

Steven stopped me.

"You know sign language?" He asked me impressed. I blushed excitedly.

"Yeah. My dad is deaf as well." I told him.

"Oh, so you must be Stosh's sister." He asked. I nodded my head.

"My name's Y/N." I said, holding out my hand. He took it, and I warmed.

"Steven." He said to me, shaking my hand politely. I blushed.

"Later." I waved to him and Tara and turned around.

"C-can I get your number?" Steven stuttered.

"Of c-course." I replied, pulling out my phone and giving him my number. I sent him a quick smiley face to make sure it was him. His phone dinged with my message.
