Chapter 2 Let's get to training (Singularity F)

—--
Olga was a magus, she was experienced with the unnatural, she had seen feats a normal man could only dream of. Yet The Champion of Terraria had defied everything she believed in.

He was strong, she couldn't deny that now, strong enough to fight multiple Servants and win. Yet he was kind, he wasn't looking at her for anything, he wasn't looking down on her. He also had a charisma she wished she had, someone able to convince what should've been an enemy into their ally.

The fanged smirk of Cu Chulainn, the legendary child of light and hero of Ireland was far more mocking. He didn't even realize the monster he had recruited, or how easily Caster Kael had given his true name away. It was impossible, yet Caster Kael somehow did it.

"Honored Heroic Spirit." Romani began "We would be greatly appreciative-"

"Who even is this weakling you've got with you?" Caster Cu asked while scratching his cheek "Seriously, I don't care all that much for grandstanding like that."

"E-eh?" Romani recoiled as if he had been struck before he slumped in his chair "W-weakling...I've been called a weakling by someone I've only just met..." the man mumbled, expression downcast and somewhat despondent for a few moments.

He inhaled and then looked back up, trying his best to build up his confidence again. "Allow us to confirm something, you're a Servant summoned for the Holy Grail War, aren't you?"

"Yeah." Cu nodded "Although I wouldn't call it Grail War anymore." he clicked his tongue as an expression full of annoyance flickered across his face "It turned into something ugly about halfway through."

"Alright Cu, so explain the situation again for these three". Kael requested, the Caster nodding to the request.

"Yea yea, I get it, gimme a minute!". Cu took a moment to think and then began explaining. "So from what I understand you and White here are trying to fix the cause of the distortion, which is caused by the fucked up Holy Grail War. It was working as usual but something went off, Saber became corrupted somehow and started fighting and defeating the other Servants, anyone she defeated became those Shadow Servants like Lancer and Assasin".

"Was the corruption caused by the Holy Grail?". Mashu asked

"Not fully sure to be honest, its power was definitely used to enhance Saber's power but whether it was the source of her corruption I have no idea". Cu grabbed a chair to sit down before continuing. "Rider, Berserker, Archer, Lancer and Assassin all got defeated and corrupted"

"So we just need to beat Berserker and Archer before taking Saber down then?" Kael said casually

"As much as I love a good fight,Berserker is a bit too much for me in this Class. Now if I had manifested as a Lancer I'd have already won this freaky war". Cu complained, thinking longingly of his trusted spear.

"Caster, who are Saber, Archer and Berserker?". Olga demanded, trying her best to hide her fear and cursing the idiot who had brought such a battle hungry Servant right to them.

"Still no idea who Archer is, just know the bastard pisses me off. He's no warrior". Cu spat, the familiar hatred for that Archer appearing. He had no idea who the man was, but he was someone Cu couldn't get along with. "As for Berserker, he's only the most legendary hero of Greece, Heracles".

Pin drop as Olga,Ritsuka and Mashu paled, Heracles? The great hero who had completed twelve impossible labors, the strongest of the Argonauts, the most legendary hero of ancient Greece? While these three felt fear, The Champion had a very different reaction.

"Most legendary hero of Greece huh? I'll have to compare titles with him then!". Kael smirked, drawing laughter from Cu and shock from his three human companions.

"Hah! Knew I liked you for a reason, if you're confident you can take him, then getting him out of the way reduces the danger extremely. He's usually just rampaging about on his own, if we double team him we've got a good chance, especially as he's lost access to his Noble Phantasm in his current state". Cu's expression was feral, sure he wasn't in his preferred class but a chance to fight the man he was often compared to wasn't something the Child of Light would deny.

"NO! We are not hunting down Berserker! If he's happy rampaging far away from us, good riddance!". Olga denied their plan before it could even begin, their strongest fighters were both battle happy idiots! They needed to solve the Singularity, not defeat every Servant.

"I-i agree with the Director, Kael-san. I know you're strong but Heracles... He's one of the greatest heroes in the entire world, it would be safer to avoid him". Mash asked far more kindly, and seeing her worried expression Kael reluctantly nodded. It didn't sit right with him ignoring an enemy who could attack them later.

"Shame, would've been a great fight". Cu was more disappointed over losing the chance to fight a strong opponent, but even he had to admit avoiding Berserker was wiser.

"Caster Cu, you have yet to mention Saber's identity, are you not aware of it?". Olga asked and had to fight back a flinch when Cu's full attention turned to her.

"There isn't a single Heroic Spirit who wouldn't have the sword she wields". Cu stated, before finishing. "Corrupted as it is, Excalibur's light is unmistakable".

All the humans (and formerly human) had to stop when they heard shocked coughing from Kael "Excalibur exists here too!?". Kael demanded, and was met with a confused expression from Cu in return.

"I'm more surprised it exists in your world". He trailed off confused, Excalibur was a weapon forged under very specific circumstances, had those circumstances also existed in Kael world?

"It... It's a complex story, you see I am also an blacksmith, I got a broken sword that once belonged to a nameless hero so I tried to repair it but always failed, until Dryad came to visit and gave me the idea to combine the Broken Hero Sword with 2 swords that symbolize Light and Darkness "

"Then how do you make a sword that represents Light and Darkness?" Ritsuka eventually spoke

"Simple for the sword which symbolizes Darkness, I've already made it, it sword made it in an area full of Evil Aura,I named it Night Edge while for the sword which symbolizes Light it must be built in an area which is very thick with Holy aura and the only areas that have a strong concentration of Holy aura are areas controlled by the Fae"

Kael's words made the room suddenly quiet before Olga stammered, "Have you ever been to the land of the Fae?."

Kael could only scratch his head "Yeah they are very unfriendly to outsiders. I even remember how I was expelled from the Fae territory because I didn't agree with them selling Pixie dust and Unicorn horns at a high price which made me say 'It's better to slaughter the Unicorns who just like to lick virgins and Pixie the Prankster to get this item instead of buying form pesky Fae' before finally I was shot with a laser full of Holy aura by local Fae Goddess until I got out of their border area with the outside world"

Kael could only chuckle before he finished and returned to the topic "Back to the original topic, you must be thinking 'how can I make a sword that symbolizes Light if the best place to make it is full of people who will kick me out if I show up?' simple. I'll just have to sneak around and hope I don't get caught while I'm making the sword."

"ohh I can imagine what it would be like for you to make a sword, it's definitely fun" Cu grinned imagining Kael trying to sneak into Fae territory

"That's just the most part, entering the Fae area is an easy thing but look for the ideal place to make the Sword of Light because otherwise the sword forged in any Fae area will just be an ordinary holy sword".

Kael said giving information about how he made the holy sword "Then why I know about Excalibur, that's because when I was looking for the perfect place to make the Sword of Light I found myself in a lake and met Fae who gave the sword Excalibur to King Arthur, Nimuë Lady of the Lake, and you could say that my meeting with her gave me the inspiration to create a sword that symbolizes Light based on Nimuë's Excalibur sword."

Hearing Kael's words made everyone speechless and amazed. "So you can recreate Excalibur?!" Mash with a surprised expression

"Yes and no, I can make Excalibur but it's not as strong as the one used by King Arthur and besides I was only inspired by the legend of Excalibur for the sword template"

"Even so, at least I was satisfied with the results and started to combine the swords of light and darkness along with the Broken Hero sword and produced a sword that was even directly blessed by the Dryads, Terra Blade," said Kael while pointing to the sword with a green blade and a golden twig hilt that was there always at his waist.

"As fascinating as that story is, don't see how it helps us here unless you've got an Anti-Excalibur weapon?". Cu asked, causing Kael to shake his head. "There goes the easy way out then, I can take on Archer but Saber is another thing, a single hit from Excalibur would take me out the fight".

"Yea, and I don't exactly have a sword capable of clashing with Excalibur right now...". Kael trailed off, and everyone frowned. Excalibur was simply too mighty, a weapon that could turn the tide of the battle.

"Archer is serving as Saber's guard dog, while she directly guards the Grail. I can take him and leave you with Saber, but that doesn't remove the threat of Excalibur". Cu said

"There's simply no way about it, you just can't let Excalibur hit you." Olga told Kael

"Ya got it! Sure Saber's got the fancy sword, but she ain't ever faced anyone like me!". Kael did a thumbs up filled with confidence, which helped relax the rest of his companions. Cu nodded in approval, moral was an important part of battle and it seemed Kael understood that perfectly.

"Alright then, I'll lead you to Saber's location and take care of Archer, while you get Saber herself". He said preparing a plan to attack

"Before that, can we give Mash a little time to train, she lacks experience and needs more training." Kael offered a suggestion

Mash flinched at the declaration, Cu gave a sage nod before turning to the Shielder Servant "Kael right lass, you're gonna need to get some more battles under your belt before you think about taking on a servant who hasn't been weakened."

"Be honest here pal, what do you think our chances are?" Cu asked

"I'm not sure but if Mash knows a thing or two in fighting we have a greater chance of defeating Saber" Kael gave his thoughts "so do you want to be given training by Cu Chulainn ? I know he's the type of person who just do it, don't think too much about it"

"Yes." Mash nodded her head in affirmative, Cu gave her a smile and patted her on the head

"Don't go all sullen on me now lass." A wide grin split his face "You'll ruin that pretty complexion of yours."

"Wha-"

"Whoa!" Ritsuka stepped in between the two of them, pushing Casters hand away from her, Romani looked equally aghast before a somewhat resigned look entered his eyes.

"I suppose all those legends about your promiscuous nature were pretty accurate." Romani said, Cu merely gave an innocent shrug in return, not bothering to make any form of denial in the least.

"Come on kiddies." Cu gestured to the door to outside the building as he marched out "There's some old track club we can use to practice there."

"Eh?" Mash blinked "Practice?"

"Yeah." Cu nodded as he strode through the hallway "You're gonna spar with us, sure learning to fight the skeletons and stuff is useful and all, but they aren't really all that powerful when compared to a Servant."

"I can also give some advice even though using shields is not my expertise," Kael added

"Well, it's more for your benefit." Cu explained "Kael looks as though he has some experience under his belt." he looked over to the servant "Haven't you? Bet you killed some things of note."

"yeah I killed one of the Outer Gods who survived the war against the Dryads and Dragons even though he was still seriously injured and if I'm not mistaken his name was Cthulhu or something like that"

"See." Cu then paused, looking back over his shoulder at the servant with a raised eyebrow "You serious?"

"Yes."

"Huh..." Cu blinked, then scratched the back of his neck "Damn...Teacher would probably try to fight you"

"Oh."

—---------

"Okay." Cu spun his staff, slamming the hilt on the ground and grinning defiantly. Ritsuka stood behind Mash while Kael and Olga stood to the side, the woman had been looking at Kael with barely concealed curiosity for some time, ever since his nonchalant declaration of killing an Outer God, which she still somewhat doubted despite his high stats that he had been told about.

"I'm sure they'll be fine." Kael spoke up while crossing his arms and watching the other two Servants prepare themselves.

"I don't-" Olga cut herself off. It was a lie, she was a little worried. This whole situation is getting out of control. She composed himself as best as he could, "I'm concerned about our situation. Even if we're dealing with the Berserkers, there's still the Saber and Archer issues that need to be resolved."

"Ready, girl!" Cu called him, Mash took a breath, closed his eyes before sighing and opening them again.

"Rea-" she had barely gotten the words out of his mouth before she had to throw his shield in front of him when nearly a dozen burning Celtic runes hit him, sending him hurtling back.

"Lesson number one, kid." Caster exclaimed, "Most guys won't give you time for introductions." pausing for a moment he lifted one finger. "I mean, normally I would, but we're a bit pressed for time here."

"Y-Yeah!"

"Good!" Caster beamed "Now, let's continue." he slammed his palm into the ground, roots quickly shot out of the hardened dirt towards the Shielder, she widened her eyes in alarm and leapt back, however they continued to follow her.

Sliding to a halt, Mash slammed her shield as hard as she could into the closest root, snapping it and sending splinters shooting off in several directions.

The moment she had done so, however, she left her torso exposed.

Cu took full advantage of the slip and sent several more fireballs towards her. Only for them to dissipate a few inches from reaching her body. The Caster blinked, then made an 'O' shape with his mouth "Magic Resistance, huh? Must be pretty high too." he chuckled "But that careless girl. That wasn't my strongest attack, to prove a point."

He grinned, twirling his staff around charging forwards, Mash narrowed her eyes as the Caster closed the distance between the two of them in a few seconds, Mash swung her shield towards the Caster servant, Cu ducked low, spinning his staff and planting the head into the side of her knee.

Mash barely buckled as she turned around to strike him again, Cu flipped over the shield and landed a good few meters from them "You got some high endurance too...not bad, not bad." he admitted, then frowned "But you're attacking needs work kid. I'm only just faster than you. You've got to predict my movements."

Mash nodded her head facing the Caster with a more controlled posture. The Caster hummed as he watched her, idly twirling the staff in his hands with ease, then smirked. "Thrusaz!" Cu shouted out, charging forwards at the same time a rune appeared in the sky, having been placed there when she had flipped over the shield moments ago.

The rune sparked with life and then sent a bolt of lightning towards the girl, Mash raised her shield to block the lightning, then let out a cry of pain as the electricity slammed into the shield with enough force to send her staggering, only for Caster to appear before her and slam his staff into her chest. Sending her stumbling to the ground.

"Play to your strengths." Kael called out from the sidelines "You've got more poise than him. Use that to your advantage."

Mash grit her teeth as she returned to her feet, Cu stared at her with a peculiar expression "Kael got the right idea. You've got a shield, but you haven't used your defensive Noble Phantasm yet."

Flushing with shame, Mash looked away "I...don't know how to use it."

"...Huh?" Cu blinked at her "Seriously?"

"No..."

Olga gaped at her "Why not?"

"The Heroic Spirit who gifted me this power." Mash explained, placing a hand over her heart with a sullen expression "They did not give me their true name."

Caster raised an eyebrow "Why should that matter? A Noble Phantasm is instinct. Although..." he hummed in thought, red eyes trailing away from her and finding themselves on a new target. Ritsuka blinked as he suddenly found himself the center of attention "A shield is meant to protect. So I shall assume your instinct is linked to that as well."

His entire posture shifted, where but a few moments ago had been an almost cordial man, now was a warrior who would kill without hesitation. Mash tensed, widening her eyes in alarm as Ritsuka found himself slowly paling as Caster killing intent honed in on him.

Olga's eyes shot wide as she realized their intention "Wait-!" she made to move forwards when Cu held up his palm towards them, signaling for them to stop. As well as making the presence of the dozen runes at their feet known to the pair.

Kael and Olga stared down at the Runes, Olga paled rapidly as her breathing began to pick up, Kael stared at them blankly and then looked over to Cu "Place her in a situation where she will be forced to adapt or die?"

Cu smirked at the Kael "Knew I had you pegged right. Yeah, if the little girl can't block this attack, she and her Master are finished." his expression flattened "Because if she can't defend against this, then we'll never beat Saber."

"But that's-!" Olga made to shout when the Champion placed a hand on her shoulder, she turned to him in shock "That's your master out there about to die! Are you seriously going to just stand there!?"

"Don't worry, trust him and if this goes south I have prepared some countermeasures," Kael calmly took out a golden wand that looked like a magic girl's wand.

"Better prepare yourself girl!" Caster exclaimed "Else you're going to burn with your Master!" twirling his staff above his head with enough speed that it blurred out, Caster then slammed it into the ground.

Kael and Olga instantly felt something in the air shift, the space behind Caster burst into flames and expanded outwards as the druid continued on "My spell is a coffin of flames, a giant of verdant thorn. Retribution, a shrine that will purify human misery-" a hand made of patched wood emerged from behind him, slowly pushing down against the ground as another followed suit.

From the pit of fire, the giant wooden figure made of interlocking branches emerged, Kael and Olga stared up at the burning figure in shock as it took a single step forwards and towards Ritsuka and Mash.

The girl stared up at the Noble Phantasm in fear before she closed her eyes, composing herself and raising her shield above her head.

"Fall!" Thrusting the staff forwards, Caster cried out "Wickerman!"

The giant figure slowly began to fall forwards towards the pair. Mash opened her eyes and let loose a cry of effort as she slammed her shield into the ground in front of herself and Ritsuka, a bright blue circular shield formed in front of them moments before the wooden figure slammed into them.

Flames exploded outwards in all directions, however it did not pierce the shield, leaving Ritsuka and Mash unharmed as the attack slowly dissipated. Olga let out a sigh of relief as Kael gave a nod of his head in approval.

"Nice lass!" Caster hollered, a wide grin on his face as he gave them a thumbs up "You did it!"

"Eh?" Mash blinked in surprise, slowly turning around to see Ritsuka staring at her in awe "Master? Did I-?"

"Heck yes!" Ritsuka grinned at her "You did it Mash!" he gave the girl a pat on the back, far too happy to still be alive to notice her slight blush at the contact.

"Impressive work." Kael called out to her as he approached "And apologies for not intervening, but Cu made steps to ensure we could not."

"Even if it ends badly, I will use the Rod of Harmony to teleport and take them to a safe place." Kael said as he returned his golden staff somehow to his purple bag

Cu rolled his eyes "I knew she'd survive that." he assured them with a carefree smile and a lazy shrug of his shoulders, soon turning his eyes back to the pair with a more thoughtful expression "But to think that the Master would survive without a scratch on him." he cracked a grin in Mash's direction "That settles it lass, you're a first rate Heroic Spirit."

Mash's expression turned ecstatic at the praise, the Caster then frowned slightly "Although, you didn't employ its true name."

Mash became slightly downcast and shook her head "No, even though I could cast it I didn't get its true name or the true name of the Heroic spirit..."

"That's fine though..." Olga cut her off "Even if you are inexperienced, even if you are only temporary." giving the girl a small smile "Your very wish unleashed your Noble Phantasm. You didn't have the slightest desire for a true name or to become a true Heroic Spirit." soon letting out a mildly amused laugh "It's like a fairy tail."

"Ummm... Director?"

"Relax I'm only teasing" her smile vanished as she returned to a serious posture "Regardless I'm glad you've unlocked your Noble Phantasm, but it's inconvenient to deploy without a true name." her face turned thoughtful and she hummed "Since it's a pseudo-deployment of a Noble Phantasm...let me see..." she thought for a moment before sporting a self-satisfied smile "we'll call it 'Lord Chaldeas' since you have a link to the name that should be a good spell for you right?"

"Sounds pretty cool." Ritsuka smiled at Mash, still smiling at her "Doesn't it?"

"Senpai...what does temperature have to do with this?"

Ritsuka gave her a puzzled look "Expression..."

Mash made a small face of realization and nodded her head, Cu made his way over to Kael with a relaxed expression "You seemed pretty onboard with the plan, take it you learned in a similar way?"

"Indeed." Kael let out a small, almost barely audible chuckle in response "When I first used magic, my body always felt like it was being swallowed by lava, until finally I could control my mana."

"Okay, I think we deserve a break and also eat delicious food, I'm the one who cooked" Kael took out a large cauldron from his bag and started to light a fire.

"You can cook too?" Cu was a little surprised

"Oh, of course I can cook. Besides, You, Ritsuka and Mash must feel hungry after going through this and I just realized I have a large supply of rabbit meat." Kael started preparing the cooking ingredients which he took out through the bag.

"Servants don't need to eat, but I won't refuse that, after all, I'm curious about how someone who claims to be able to kill the Outer God cooks," Cu said with a big smile.

—---

Romani looked at the computer, the last few hours had not been pleasant at all, he had managed to confirm three life signals on Singularity F and even who they were. Knowing that Mash was still alive relieved him, the fact that he was accompanied by Ritsuka and Director Olga made his stress disappear a little, but he just had to focus on what would happen next.

When he tried to contact the three of them, a new servant signal suddenly appeared, making Romani panic instantly and somehow he was immediately able to connect with Ritsuka and asked him to immediately run away from the servant.

He can finally rest easy knowing that Caster is a new servant who succeeded in making a Master & Servant contract with Ritsuka who was summoned via Mash's shield and is ready to help Ritsuka and the others.
The director immediately ordered Romani to find out more about Caster's origins, he said that he came from a place called the Land of Terraria and earned the nickname Champion of Terraria.

The nickname Caster somehow made Romani feel like he knew him even though he was sure he had never met him.

In fact, none of the data the Chaldean organization has is related to what Caster said.

Romani at least asked the Director to find a safe place before continuing to find out Caster's origins, considering that they were summoning in the open.

and not long after that they were ambushed by 2 Servants in the Singularity, although it didn't last long since Caster defeated them quickly

They finally settled in an abandoned school as a place to rest and take shelter

Caster seemed to be taking the first turn to watch the surrounding area before unexpectedly a new Servant signal appeared and immediately confronted Caster

but for some reason this new Servant didn't attack Caster instead he wanted to meet the others after Caster talked to him a little, even giving his name directly.

After that, everything seemed to happen quickly, starting from the information about the singularity that occurred in Fuyuki City, Kael's story about the sword he created Terra Blade, to Cu Chulainn training Mash so that he could use his Noble Phantasma.

"Roman, you need a break. It's been hours and you need rest". The only one still with him at this time of night was Da Vinci, who gave him a disappointed look. It wasn't that late, it was only 23:36... Okay, maybe it was a bit late.

"Alright, I'll get some sleep". He got up from his chair, and with one last glance towards the computer, left to his thankfully still intact room. Surprisingly none of the living rooms had been targeted with bombs, a small mercy compared to the disaster of the many dead masters that they had activated the freeze function on the Coffins to safe as many, yet many were still lost

He could only hope things would be better come morning.

—-----

Meanwhile, Archer felt increasingly tormented by things he didn't understand since he noticed the new group

He guessed it was all because Caster was irritating Archer for some reason

He will definitely use Caladbolg II for the Caster
