I was hoping tomorrow would mean Alek will no longer care about me since it is another week of school. It was really exhausting having him around this weekend. Friday night was conflicting, Saturday was nice until Dixie came around and Sunday I was ready for him to leave. This weekend was a little bubble away from reality. But the problem with that is reality always comes back around. I expected tomorrow at school to be no different than the first week of it.

However, when I open my locker to a bouquet of roses inside, I am really surprised and irritated. I feel an arm wrap around my shoulder, "So, how do you like the roses?" Ugh, of course it is him. Why would it not be him? I roll my eyes. "Nice but I do not like it as much as I would if you would just leave me alone!" Alek fake recoils in hurt, "You are seriously turning him down? This is the boy that is rejecting me for you. A girl that doesn't even want him. What is so special about you? He has no reason to love you. You are just a worthless, stinking horse girl who only cares about stinky beasts." Dixie basically screams at me.

I just decided to lock my locker and walk away. Alek surprisingly chases after me. "Amry, slow down." He calls after me. I stop and turn to face him, "What?" He grabs my waist to stop me from falling down because of him. "Are you mad at me?" I shake my head, "I just have to get to class." He nods, "I'll see you later." He tells me as he turns around. "Oh, Alek!" I called after him but he just waved and kept walking. I guess he doesn't really care that I won't be there at lunch. I shrug and get to my class.

I have the last class of the morning with Alek. But he doesn't know and doesn't have my number to find out. At the end of my class for the day, I go to my locker and pack my stuff. I pass by the first set of lockers where Alek's locker is and I see the auburn hair of Dixie. Of course, she is standing by him. I roll my eyes and duck behind the crowd. I stop by the lockers of Natasha and Sasha to say bye. While we are talking for a few minutes, a tall figure hovers over my shoulder. "Leaving for the rodeo?" Ah, my best cowboy friend Jackson also known as Chief. "Don't you know me, Chief?" He chuckles, "That I do, that I do, Tiger." I give him a fist bump and head out. I wave goodbye to the girls and head home.

I start my truck before putting my backpack in the backseat. I think back to how Chief called me, Tiger. I remember the first time we met. I just rode the tiger striped brahma bull Buck Me Crazy for 10 seconds. He came up because he came in second to me. He thought I was a guy with a braid hanging out the side of the helmet. When he came behind me and clamped a hand on my shoulder. I turn around to face him and he just gapes at me. "Surprised you lost to a girl?" The guy ,Jackson Heartson, just shrugs his shoulder at me and I ease around him. I pull him down to my level so I could talk into his ear, "Well ,Chief, you might just want to buck up and get used to it. Because I ain't going anywhere." Chief comes from the name of the bull he rode at that rodeo. Chief By Night.

I turn out of the school and head home. When I get there, I back my truck to the trailer and hitch it. "First try, baby!" I exclaimed to my dog because I backed the truck to the trailer on the first try. I had my equipment loaded up previously so all I had to do was load up my horse Locomotive Fire also known as Fire and Eat my Dust. Dust for short. Locomotive Fire is my barrel racing horse because she is excellent at getting around the barrels and she has the speed of a locomotive. And the dust trail behind her mimics the smoke that trails a fire. While Eat my Dust is a Team roping horse. He has that name because just before our runs, he likes to pay the dirt.

I grab Fire's halter and put it on her. Then I walk her out and she loads onto the trailer like an angel. I was coming out with Dust when I see the glinting of the sun on a vehicle and dust following behind. I load Dust before stepping out to see who is in the vehicle. "Alek? Shouldn't you be at school?" He closes his truck door, "Probably but I decided I was sick. But don't tell the people at school that." I chuckle, "Your secret is safe with me." I respond before shutting and latching the trailer door. "Well ,unfortunately, I am leaving for a rodeo that is this evening. So, I will not be here." Alek nods and asks, "Mind if I go with you?" I responded, "Sure. But I am ready to go and I have my horses ready to go so be quick." He quickly grabs his stuff and hops in the passenger seat. I check all doors are latched securely and climb into the truck.
