Bunnicula cradled Ravi, ensuring his safety, as Chester steered towards the nearest gas station for a break.
Bunnicula exhaled deeply, wishing for Ravi's swift recovery. "Why would Moxxie betray us like this? I doubt Ravi could ever forgive him after what happened today," he murmured to himself.
Soon, they pulled over at a gas station. Chester climbed into the backseat, attempting to restore the abilities that Brenson had extracted from Ravi.
Bunnicula and the others near Ravi stepped back to give Chester room to work. Chester removed a syringe from a box, drew the liquid from the container, and cautiously administered it into Ravi's veins. As Chester completed the injection, Ravi's complexion appeared more vivid, and soon after, his eyes fluttered open.
"What... What happened?" Ravi's voice emerged, deep and sluggish from weariness.
"Moxxie happened," CC quipped.
Chester shot CC a glare for his poor attempt at humor before addressing Ravi, "In a manner of speaking, yes, this is Moxxie's doing," he concurred.
Overcome with emotion, Bunnicula leaped forward, enveloping Ravi in a tight embrace and planting several kisses of relief, "I'm so relieved you're safe," he expressed.
Ravi let out a soft chuckle, "So am I," and returned Bunnicula's hug with equal fervor.
Chester surveyed their surroundings with a puzzled expression. "That's odd... why is there a gas station next to the beach?" He peered behind the building to find a deserted stretch of sand.
Kai, with his arms folded and a smirk on his face, suggested, "Perhaps we could take refuge there for a bit," giving Chester a suggestive wink.
Chester exhaled deeply and faced Kai. "We are not heading to the beach, Kai," he stated firmly.
Kai's smile turned into a frown. "But Chester, I'm a water dragon! The water and I are inseparable," he implored.
Chester shot Kai a skeptical look. "Tell me, are you adapted to freshwater or saltwater?" he inquired, one eyebrow arched in curiosity.
Kai dismissed the concern with a wave of his hand. "Pshh-I'm a freshwater dragon, sure, but all water is the same," he declared, hands confidently resting on his hips.
Chester rolled his eyes. "Kai, not all water is the same," he scoffed.
Kai chuckled. "Oh Chester, what do you know about water? You're not even a water species," Kai laughed as he strolled towards the water.
Chester groaned as he made his way to the van. "Guys, looks like we're heading to the beach for a bit since Kai wants to reconnect with his aquatic abilities," Chester said, rolling his eyes as he moved towards the beach.
CC, Bendy, Mint, Bunnicula, and Ravi shared a look. "Huh, this is going to be interesting," Mint noted as she stepped out with the others.
Leaving the van and stepping onto the sand, they were immediately greeted by a cool ocean breeze, bringing with it the smell of saltwater and the steady rhythm of waves meeting the shore. The beach lay empty, illuminated by the soft light of the setting sun, which cast elongated shadows on the sand.
Bunnicula held Ravi with care, the burden of his recent troubles still present in his thoughts, yet the tranquil surroundings provided a slight comfort. Chester, lagging behind, remained vigilant, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon, alert even in this moment of calm.
CC, hands in his pockets, walked alongside Bendy and Mint, who had already discarded their shoes, keen to feel the sand underfoot. The strain of the preceding hours started to dissipate, and briefly, it seemed as if they were merely friends on an impromptu beach outing.
Kai, having dashed ahead of the group, stood at the water's edge, watching the waves caress his feet as he looked out over the ocean's vastness. His eyes shone with excitement, and a broad smile appeared on his face when he noticed something in the distance. Compelled, Kai stepped into the water, his scales glistening in the sunlight as he ventured further, his affinity for the water clear.
Bunnicula carefully placed Ravi on a towel laid out on the sand. "You feeling okay, Ravi?" he inquired, his voice filled with concern as he crouched beside him.
Ravi gave a weak nod, feeling thankful for the company of his friends. "Yeah, I'm okay... just a bit tired," he confessed, reclining on the towel and shutting his eyes, comforted by the ocean's rhythmic sounds.
CC, observing Kai's mounting enthusiasm in the water, elbowed Bendy and gestured towards their friend. "Look, Kai's chatting with a... is that an orca?" he questioned, trying to see clearly.
Bendy affirmed with a nod, "Absolutely! Let's go over there!" and flashed a grin.
Kai, turning back, greeted them with a smile. "Hey guys! And Orcus, meet CC and Bendy, my friends; and CC, Bendy, this is Orcus!"
Bendy waved and greeted, "Hi Orcus!" giving Orcus a wide, toothy smile.
Orcus returned the wave, "Hi guys! It's a pleasure to meet you all." He smiled, then noticed Ravi and Bunnicula at a distance. "I hope I'm not intruding, but is everything alright with them?" he inquired, raising an eyebrow.
Kai offered an awkward grin. "Well, not exactly. Ravi-the alien, obviously-is recuperating from some recent disturbing events. Though, I'm fairly certain he's just resting at the moment," Kai said, shrugging.
Understanding, Orcus nodded. "Ah, okay, I see. So, where are you all headed?" he asked, curious.
Kai slipped his hands into his pockets. "Initially, we planned to delve into Ravi's backstory and such, but after the near-fatal incident, we're just heading home," he explained with a shrug.
Orcus's expression turned to a frown. "You're leaving already?" he asked.
Kai nodded affirmatively. "Yeah, we only stopped here for fuel, rest, and the usual necessities, you know?" he said.
Orcus nodded in understanding. "Alright, I understand. Since you're departing so soon, I'd like you to have these," he said, offering some seashell bracelets and a necklace.
Kai gasped, his eyes wide with surprise. "For real? That's amazing, man! I don't have anything to give you right now-"
"Don't worry about it," Orcus interrupted, a warm smile spreading across his face. "Think of it as... friendship jewelry."
Gratefully, Kai nodded. "Thanks, Orcus! I really appreciate it, but I've got to head out now," he said, smiling and waving farewell as he departed.
