Chapter 1: Day one
Bus rides. That was the one thing that I loved most but also something I hated to do. The reasons I loved them so much was because most of the time it gave you time to think and ponder about life by looking at the passing scenery and blaring your music through your headphones. I also hate them because of the cramp space. You usually have one big kid sitting by you and squishing you up against the wall or making you sit on one cheek on the bus seat. This one bus trip though is what made me hate them forever.
My roommates and I sprinted out of the hotel room with our bags over our shoulders watching the eyes of our troupe glare at us. We overslept that morning.
"Sorry we overslept." My roommate Devin tried to explain. "We didn't draw the blinds at all. We're sorry."
My other two roommates and I just nodded our heads in agreement. Devin Albright wasn't the most muscular guy you'd ever see. He was scrawny with medium length hair that curled up in some places. He was short but had a heart like no other kid. I respected him.
My other roommate was Andy Glenn. He wasn't your average kid in the least. He grew up in the hood with family problems I never asked about myself. Andy's life story was a dark abyss to most people and horrifying to the people that knew. He had a neat shaved head with tough looking features on his face but his build didn't match up to his body. He was kind of small, smaller than me, but he was stronger. He was the type of guy that swore he didn't like anyone, but I never believed him on that one.
Bryce was my last roommate. A good person at heart and mind and also a guy who you could talk to if you had problems. He was the most muscular out of all of us. He was also the best looking. With a wave of finger, he could have any girl he chose. I wish I was like that. He had short brown hair with muscular arms and legs. If you met him for the first time you'd think he was a fighter but I knew him to well now to think that of him.
We sat our stuff in the very back seats of the bus then we found our own. Andy sat in front of me, Bryce in front of him and Devin on the right side of me.
There were other people on the bus as well. In the back, next to all the bags, were the "cool" kids of the troupe. They were being obnoxious, annoying with their loud talking, and constant joking towards others.
Joanna Hamrick was the main leader of them. She was nice enough at times, caring, holding onto people's arms and laughing with you instead of at you. The other times were terrible. She would make fun of you behind your back, laugh at you and give you that "I hate your guts" type look if you cross her the wrong way. She had this long straight hair that went down past her shoulders and piercing pale green eyes. She was tall too, that's what added to her intimidation. She was a pretty girl, which also added to the intimidation factor. She was a volleyball player when she wasn't doing any acting at the school. I was on her good side, for now.
The second in command was Shelby Wages. She was a lot nicer and genuine than Joanna but she was still second in command. Still someone that was mean if you were on her bad side but nicer. She was a bigger built but leg muscles like a swimmer. Kind of like your average teenage girl. They both sat in different seats but both were on the right side of the bus.
Also in the back were their followers. Natalie Wheeler, Caleb Reid, Chris Wallace and Ansley Bowman.
Natalie was one of my longtime friends. We had a history before we met anyone else on this bus. She was cute with dark brown eyes and long straight hair that went down past her toned shoulders. She had freckles on her, but not enough to make her look unappealing. She wasn't fat either. She was a perfect size. She was nice to everyone. A good soul, but I was never really sure if she was my type.
