Kyōtani was sitting on one of the benches. Everyone had just finished practice and he got the honor of cleaning up. Instead, he found himself glued to his phone - much like most teenagers his age. What Kyōtani didn't expect was for his setter to come into the gym locker room.
Yahaba was a copy-paste Oikawa by that point, or at least in the way that he overworked himself all the time.
Kyōtani couldn't directly see Yahaba, but he learned the way he walked. Yahaba was a pretty soft yet sassy walker - similar to a trotting horse or dog. In fact, Yahaba often reminded Kyōtani of a Swiss shepherd. Which was just a normal German shepherd except white and slightly larger. He has the personality and look of one. Deep brown eyes and silvery-white hair, one which was usually dyed brown.
Kyōtani had a normal German shepherd at home, and she was just as stubborn as Yahaba too. Maybe it was just because she was a female - Kyōtani learned that most of the time male dogs would be more clingy with their owners while the girls tended to be more independent - but Yahaba was a lot like her.
And Yahaba was a lot like Oikawa too. A pissy popular kid who scored well with the ladies. Not to say that Kyotabi hadn't been asked out a few times - which he had, but rejected them all. And as discussed before, he inherited Oikawa's shitty sleep schedule too. Maybe it was a setter thing. Maybe it was a captain thing. But regardless the caretaker always seemed to fall to the Aces and Vice Captains - and Kyōtani knew that day was no different, and he knew that he would end up forcing Yahaba to sleep and eat, it wasn't the first and it wouldn't be the last.
Yahaba flinched as he noticed Kyōtani sitting on the bench. Kyōtani could sense the tiredness, it was like it radiated off Yahaba.
"Have you eaten?" Kyōtani asked immediately. Yahaba paused and nodded. Yahaba was terrible at lying. "When was the last time you slept?"
"Um... a night ago..." Yahaba said, even though he sounded unsure. God, it wasn't even funny how terrible he was at lying. Kyōtani gave him a sceptical look that seemed to crack Yahaba. "...or two..." he paused before finally admitting the real answer as Kyōtani gave him another gaze "...or six..."
"Six?" Kyotabi repeated. Yahaba nodded shyly. "And why the hell are you here?"
"... practice ?..."
" Practice was over two hours ago." Kyōtani hissed. He cut Yahaba off before he could ask the same question of 'Well, why are you here?' - which was most definitely what he was trying to do. "You're here because you don't believe you're good enough at something. Aren't you?"
Just the look Yahaba gave him was enough for Kyōtani to know he got it correct. Yahaba didn't even fight, he just looked at the ground rather pitifully.
Kyōtani sighed and got up, he walked closer and closer to Yahaba, grabbed Yahabas bag and started to walk out of the gym, no questions asked.
"H-Hey! My bag! Give that back, you asshole," Yahaba growled, trailing behind Kyōtani like some sort of stupidly lost puppy... yeah Yahaba wasn't the smartest either... he would be pretty easy to kidnap, you could just pick him and drag him home - although Kyōtani would never do that. (Unless one-day Yahaba managed to really piss him off) One did have to question how Yahaba didn't actually die at the age of six when the self-proclaimed "candyman" came around.
"you're going to my house and you are eating and you are sleeping." Yahaba groaned in response but continued to follow, his posture suddenly turning terrible."What about the gym?" (Yahaba was very obviously trying to change the subject - it didn't work.)
"The second years - what are their names? - TurnipOnion-Head and friends can do it."
