When jenny woke up she found herself on the floor with saffy staring at her.

"What are you looking at?" She asked the cat.

In return saffy meowed. Jenny grabbed her suitcase, which luckily hadn't been stolen, and her cat and made her way to Kensington market.

*********

Freddie was heading to meet Roger at Kensington market to set up their stall. When he arrived Roger was nowhere to be found. Freddie had brought the supplies with him so he started to set up. Just as he was struggling to lift a pretty heavy box one handed, Roger decided to show up.

"Where have you been?" Freddie asked him as he ran over to help with the box.

"With Brian"

"Of course you were."

"What happened to your arm? And your eye? What happened to you?" Roger questioned.

"Gang."

"Ah."

After that they spent the morning in silence. Freddie broke the silence to ask Roger a question.

"Roger, I think I'm going to change my name to Freddie Mercury. What do you think?"

"I think it's cool. It's up to you."

"Yes. I think I will change it."

The occasional person walked by only to run to the stall across from them. Then a woman caught Freddie's eye.

"I know her! She helped me after I was attacked! Roger, help me get her attention!"

"Alright, wait there I'll get her over."

Roger went up to her.

"Hello miss! You look like the sort who would be interested in what is on my stall. A pair of jeans? A shirt? Or perhaps the lovely item on the end of my stall?"

Roger pointed over and when Jenny turned she saw Freddie sitting on the end of the stall. She stifled a laugh.

"Oh yes! The item on the end looks perfect! Can I go and have a look?" She joked.

"Of course! Just go right up!"

Jenny walked up to Freddie and greeted him with a wave. He returned it happily.

"Hi" She said.

"Hello darling."

Jenny put her cat on the stall next to Freddie as it was trying to see him. Saffy looked up at him and meowed. Freddie took immediate interest.

"Is this your cat? She's beautiful."

"Yeah, she is called saphire. Or saffy for short."

"Interesting name. Unique. I like it."

"Thank you."

Freddie poked his fingers through the cage and stroked the cat. Saphire purred contently.

"So what brings you here?" He asked her.

 "Well, I was evicted so I h...."

"Woah! Evicted? Where are you staying?"

"Oh, on the bench under the willow tree round the corner, but as I was saying I..."

Freddie interrupted her again. "A bench? No no no no! You must stay with me. I share an apartment with Roger but he only noticed my arm today as he was out with my other friend Brian. I'm in a band with them."

"Really? Thank you! What is your band called?"

"We are called Queen and I've just changed my name to Freddie Mercury because I think it is cool and works. What do you think?"

"Well, Freddie Mercury, I think it's wonderful!"

"Thank you! Do you want to stay here until we close up or go explore the market?"

"I'll stay here, if that's alright. Also, could I buy some clothes? I have money."

Jenny produced a twenty pound note. She selected two pairs of jeans, three T-shirts and a pair of shoes. She handed Freddie the note.

 "Is it enough?" She asked.

"Darling! It's way too much! Here."

He handed back ten pounds.

"It all comes to fifteen pounds but I've given you a special friend discount." Freddie smiled.

"Thank you!"

"Your welcome dear."

For the rest of the day they waited for customers that never came. They packed up early and headed to their apartment.

*****

When they got there Freddie turned to Jenny.

"Mi casa Es su casa." He said as he opened the doors.

The apartment was small and cramped. The sofa, where Roger was sitting, was a light beige. Freddie gave her a grand tour. The kitchen was messy and dishes needed to be cleaned. Jenny made a mental note to fix that. The bathroom was full of hair products and make up, probably Freddie's, the living room had a sofa, two chairs and a TV. Rogers room was extremely messy, with magazines about cars everywhere, there were clothes on the bed and a poster with a drum set on it was in the corner. Freddie's room was far from immaculate. There were sheets of music atop a small piano, there were scrunched up pieces of paper on the floor, probably song lyrics that didn't work, and clothes on the bed. There was also a Jimmy Hendrix poster. Jenny was going to have a nice cleaning session in the apartment. Last, was a spare room where she would stay. The walls were bare and a single bed was against the far wall.

"You can do what you want in here, we don't mind." Freddie told Jenny.

"Alright thanks for letting me stay."

"No problem dear! But can you cook?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Because we can't. Would you cook for us?"

"Of course!"

"Ok. Thank you. I'll leave you to put your things away."

With that Freddie shut the door. The next thing Jenny heard was Roger.

"Shit!"

"What?" Jenny came running out of her room to find Roger on the floor, rubbing his head, Saphire sitting on the black rug next to him.

"Bloody cat!"

"Roger! Be nice! It's only a cat!" Freddie shouted.

"I'm sorry." Jenny picked up the cat. "Bad kitty! Don't trip Roger up! He is being nice to is and giving us a home!"

"It's fine." Roger said as he got up. "Freddie, I'm gonna buy a new rug, we can't have a black rug and a black cat."

"Wait for the fleas!" Freddie joked, earning him a good old stare from Roger.
