The worst part of my life was elementary. This first year of school was so hard for me. Being a coda with no access to "normal" speech made me prone to bullying. I was made fun of for the way I spoke, taking after my parents who didn't.

My parents only made noises, to get my attention. I was bullied and people would make 'deaf noises' at me. The way I communicated with my parents was looked at weird and my parents felt bad for me.

I was never invited to birthday parties or made friends with anyone. I eventually learned how to speak from therapy.

Making friends didn't come easy, I was known as the girl with deaf parents. I was either pitied or looked at weird. To this day, I have no idea why.

I never told my parents, that's why I make sure my kids do. So when Serefina came home with red, tearful eyes, I immediately went to talk to her.

Hearing the way my 6-year-old cried over having two moms broke my heart. She's outcasted, being told her moms are going to hell for simply loving. I can't blame the kids, parents teach them this nonsense.

All I can do is tell her they're wrong and she should be proud to have loving moms. She cries in my chest and I rub her back.

I don't want my daughter to have the school life I did growing up. I want her to have friends and be treated equally. So I guess I'm talking to the school staff.

"How about we make your favorite dinner tonight? Pasta?" I say, trying to lighten her mood. It seems to work as she dries her cheeks and looks at me, nodding her head. I kiss her forehead and begin to stand.

"Wait, don't leave. Stay," she whines and I can't say no. We end up lying together for a while and she falls asleep. So I leave her alone and head downstairs.

My 12-year-old is sitting in the kitchen, doing his homework. He knows the only way he gets his controllers is if homework is completed.

It's the second thing they do when they get home, first is washing hands and change out of their school clothes. "Everything okay?"

"Yeah, I'm almost done," Julian answers, looking at his computer. Julian, our oldest is in 7th grade. He finds interest in football and wants to be a professional. The only way that can happen is if he focuses on school, but he's not.

His grades have been slipping, saying they don't count in middle school. I try to tell him that doesn't matter and that having good grades now sets him up for high school. He only does his work for his game, so Satan and I had to cut the time spent on it to an hour. It's not a lot but it's only for the weekdays.

Lucien is a genius like his mom, loving to read chapter books and excelling at every subject. Even outside of school, he still finds ways to learn.

We always find him doing some science experiment or collecting some type of data. He is really into nature and bugs. He's the cutest thing. "Hey, Bugs."

"Hi, Mama," he says, crouched down staring through his magnifying glass.

"What are you doing?" I ask as he stares into a cup.

"I found baby snails, I'm gonna put them into a terrarium," he says proudly.

"That's sounds fun!" I say, smiling at him.

"Can you take me to the dollar store?" He asks.

I shake my head. "No baby, your sister sleeping and Mommy's coming home soon."

"Aww," he says sadly.

"Hey, I'll go to the store tomorrow okay?" His face lights up, nodding and hugging me. I smile softly as his arms wrap around my waist.

Satan got home about an hour later and Serefina was awake. Her soft lips on mine are heavenly and her voice makes the world go quiet. "How are you?"

"Things could be better," I reply.

"What happened?"

"Serefina's classmates are bullying her for having two moms."

She takes a sigh and starts walking more into the house, stopping at the kitchen and sitting down. "I'm gonna talk to her principal and teacher. I'll call tomorrow."

"Okay," she says and nods her head.

"How was work?"

"Good, read scans," she says and walks towards the stairs.

It's not easy but we make it work. Now that I no longer have to responsibility of watching the kids during the day, I can do other things like cleaning and shopping.

I still don't cook as Satan prefers it. I thought I would start when all the kids got into school but she still wants to. I think she enjoys having something to do for us, even though she works.
She's adorable so if she wants to cook, imma let her cook.

"I'm gonna go wash up and get dinner started," she says and kisses my cheek. She leaves saying hi to our kids as they sit in the living room.

The end of the day is quite boring for me as I don't have much to do. I'd say being a mom of independent children is boring. They don't want me 24/7 anymore.

It's nice to know they can be away from me or don't have to rely on me for simple things. I know we raised them right but I miss it. I think I always will.

After dinner, we take time to wind down with a game. It's usually just the four of us as Julian claims he's too old. We play rounds of Uno, enjoying each other's company before we go to bed.

"Uno!" Satan shouts, showing off her one card. Serefina gets upset as she has two cards and crosses her arms. "It's okay, love."

"No, it's not! I haven't won yet," she says upset. I want to give Serefina a chance so I decided to play my draw 4 card to make Satan draw.

"Put your card down, love," Serefina huffs, placing down her yellow card. My son goes next placing his card. When it's my turn, I give my wife an "I'm sorry" look while slowly placing the draw 4 card.

"Aww, dang it! Look what Mama did!" Serefina laughs at her and gets excited when she realizes she can win. Waiting for her mom to pick her four and put a card down, she shifts in her seat barely containing her excitement.

When it's her turn, I watch as her eyes glow and her face lights up as she places her card down and shouts, "I win!"

"Yay! Good job love!" Satan says showing her encouragement and good sportsmanship.

"Okay, time for bed! That was fun, huh?" I ask, receiving nods from the three. We clean up the cards and send the kids to bed to get tucked in.

"I'm so tired," Satan says from behind. Her hands gripping my waist and her face in my neck. Her soft breath and subtle kisses make me melt. I enjoy every moment of our intimacy, her presence giving me relief and the memories flooding back.

As her hands trail up and down my stomach, our bodies sway together side by side. Moments like these with her is something I cherish and enjoy. After a few moments of love, we go upstairs to tuck the kids in.

Switching from kid to kid, kissing and tucking them in. When the lights go off, we shower, enjoying another moment together before bed.
