Lily's heart sank as she watched Jake surrounded by a group of giggling cheerleaders. It felt like a punch to the gut, seeing him effortlessly charming everyone around him. She continued walking towards her class, trying to shake off the disappointment and focus on her own day.

But just as she thought things couldn't get any worse, she was stopped in her tracks by the principal, who was accompanied by a boy with striking blue hair and a beautiful face. The principal explained that Lily had been chosen to tutor this boy, who was struggling in all of his classes. Lily nodded, accepting the responsibility, and mustered up the courage to greet her mysterious classmate.

"Hey," she said, her voice filled with a mix of curiosity and kindness. However, the boy didn't respond at all. It was as if he hadn't heard her, lost in his own thoughts. Lily couldn't help but wonder what was going on in his mind.

As they sat in the library Lily decided to break the silence. "So, what's your name?" she asked, hoping to unravel the mystery behind the boy with the blue hair.

He looked up, his eyes meeting hers for the first time. "It's Alex," he finally replied, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.

Lily couldn't help but smile back. She felt a sudden surge of excitement, realizing that there was something special about this unexpected connection. Alex may have been mysterious and guarded, but she sensed a genuine vulnerability hiding beneath the surface.

Lily: Hey Alex, why were you smiling just now?

Alex: (gestures to his hearing aid) You really don't know? Isn't it too obvious?

Lily: (feeling embarrassed) Oh my gosh, I didn't realize. I'm so sorry, Alex. I should have noticed sooner.

Alex: (smiling kindly) It's alright, Lily. It happens. But from now on, when you talk to me, I need you to look at me so I can read your lips.

Lily: Okay, I understand. I'll make sure to do that from now on. So, how about we meet up tomorrow for our tutoring session?

Alex: Same time and place?

Lily: Yep, let's stick to what we've been doing. See you tomorrow,

As Lily said her goodbye, she couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. She felt a sense of gratitude for having the opportunity to help Alex, but also a tinge of guilt for not realizing his hearing impairment sooner. However, she was determined to make their tutoring sessions even better by ensuring effective communication.

Little did Lily know that this newfound understanding between her and Alex would strengthen their bond even further.
