It was an evening. Soon to be night even. The barmaiden sat behind the counter of her bar, tracing her finger along one of the glasses which have just been cleaned due to the last customer of the hour leaving. Usually, her house would've been full of people by now - but tonight seemed almost dead. How couldn't it, it was the middle of the week, almost midnight hour. As the silence swam around her, Demi decided to pour herself a drink. Her hand grabbed a bottle of wine in her reach, pouring the liquid right back into her mouth.

Her brother was gone. He was gone, as well as her mother. Her father was out of reach too. So she was on her own. Her only family 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞.
And for all she knew, the bottle welcomed her warmly each time she placed it on her lips. At first, it was for fun only, only to taste, only to try. But with the time passing, each sip felt more and more like a hug. Who could blame her for accepting a hug as warm as none she's gotten before?

Around half an hour passed. The maiden, after cleaning up, a tipsy feeling carrying her, was just about to close for the day, making her way to the back of the bar, when suddenly - she heard the bell, hanging from the top of her door, ring quietly in her ears. "Hm?" She said quietly. The presence of another person was suddenly in her back. And to that - a new one even. Slowly, she turned over her shoulder, meeting with the eyes of a girl. A quite beautiful one at that. Demis head slightly fell to the side as she mustered the females body. She looked mysterious, yet inviting. Something about the lady standing in front of her caught her eye, her attention being on the other as she turned around completely.
"Hello? I haven't seen you around here yet, have I? You new in this town?" Demi asked. The strangers eyes fell to the ground, a small, gentle smile on her lips. She only shook her head from side to side slowly before a quiet, somewhat elegant sounding voice spoke, "No. I don't believe we've met. New to here isn't what I am, I just didn't seem to notice a bar like this around here before." The girl looked back up from her feet, both of the females catching eyes. Their gazes meet just a while before Demi, with a raised eyebrow, leaned over the bar counter slightly, reaching out her hand to greet the woman. "Demi the name! It's my pleasure M'lady!"
Held back, sort of surprised, the girl mustered the barmaiden in front of her in slight surprise.
Soon, she agreed to the little manner, holding out her hand and gently putting it into the one of Demi. "I am Vera. Vera Nair to be exact. The pleasure is all mine."𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘢.. Demi thought to herself. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦. 𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘦.. - As the women noticed herself staring at Vera as she got lost in thought, she cleared her throat with a small head shake. "Right!" She yelled out. "I was just about to close up, but if there's any wish you have for a drink, I'd be happy to fulfill your dreams!"
Vera wore a small smile on her lips, watching Demis every move carefully. She then stood up from the seat that she had taken a while earlier slowly, grabbing her bag and placing it in her left hand. The perfumer looked at the other, something warm being found in her eyes. That warmness was yet - also filled with somewhat of a coldness at the very same time, leaving a few goosebumps over Demis back. The fragile women took a coin out of her purse, placing it on the wooden surface in front of her. "For the nice welcome." Vera said before turning her back to Demi, making her way to the exit door. Right before pushing down the handle, the girl once more opened her mouth. "Do not worry. I'll surely be back. I cannot wait for the next friendly welcome I'll be getting. My thank yous, 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐢"
With that, she left, leaving the maid stunned.Demi was frozen for a few moments, thinking about the events that just took place. Then, a small grin was written on her face. "Heh.. What a surprising meeting." Her eyes stuck to the door just a little while longer, before she whispered "You're more than welcome, 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐚."
A smile on her face, Demi grabbed the bottle of wine once more. For the first time in a long while, she felt like taking a sip only for the moment of fun, rather than the lonely, gut wrenching feeling of longing for the 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘮 𝘩𝘶𝘨.
