"Connor." Someone called as they were knocking on the door and soon after, the door was opened.
"Hey Tommy, what's going on?" Connor asked as they were clasping hands quickly and Connor was motioning for him to come inside.
Tommy was holding up a bunch of grocery bags in his hands as he had bought more for them and he was handing it over to Connor.
"You really don't have to do this every day for us, man." A scoff came from Tommy who was swiftly shaking his head at the words.
"If I'm not making sure that you and your mom are eating right, then who will?" The smile on Connor's face indicated that he really wasn't too upset by the groceries that his old friend brought over to their house, almost every day. "All I need for it, is a ride to Joe's job site."
"As always." Connor said knowingly as Tommy shrugged quickly, before Tommy was getting to work at the stove, Connor woke his mom up and he was getting the coffee ready.
"Just because I can move things with my mind, doesn't mean that I can read every thought that goes through your head." In Tommy's mind, that was a fair point as Connor laughed.
"Yeah yeah, okay. Whatever you say." The electric said as he shrugged, before he was walking over to the table and Tommy grabbed the extra coffee mug.
After watching Connor and his mom Mary go back and forth about all sorts of types for interview questions, Tommy was hopping into the passenger seat of Conner's truck.
"Tommy, why do you work like the rest of us?" Connor asked as he drove the truck and his friend was tossing peanuts up and into his mouth. "You don't have to work, you are basically loaded, but you choose to work when you don't have to. Why is it?" Connor asked and Tommy sighed, leaning his head back against the seat.
"Because I have got some responsibilities that I don't feel like disclosing to the public right now, okay?" Tommy asked and Connor looked over at his friend in confusion. "Look it is just extremely... Complicated, okay?" He asked and Connor winced, feeling the truck shaking around them.
"Okay, Tommy. Take it easy." Connor suggested as the truck was trembling and Tommy sighed softly, before he swiftly had collected himself and his powers had been reigned back in.
"Sorry Con." Tommy muttered and then Connor glanced over at him. "It is just... Just not a good day for those types of questions, all right?" He asked and Connor nodded at the words. "Just drop me here, thanks." He said and Connor clapped him on the back as Tommy hopped out, while Connor drove off and going back to his job interview.
Tommy had already been swiftly working with the others for well over an hour when Connor pulled up in his own truck and Joe the foreman, he was stubbornly insisting on only paying Connor for a half day, even when he only missed an hour of work.
"You can have mine too." Tommy stated as he was helping the others to lift the heaviest supplies out of the back without physically touching it and he was stopping, when he saw Connor's face. "What is going on?" He asked.
"Drone." Connor stated and Tommy sighed quietly, before he was walking out and into the sun. Connor followed him out and all of them were lining up.
They looked up at the sky and without waiting, the drone was scanning them all and knowing what it was doing and scanning for, Tommy had a feeling that he knew what was next on the list.
Tommy could see the numbers and the names in his head, as clear as a day. It was like he was running numbers but instead, it was the names of Powered People, their class and their abilities.
"Hey, you okay?" Connor asked him quietly and Tommy was rubbing his temples, before he nodded.
"Yeah. I'm just not good with being around so many powered people, you know that." It was a true statement as Connor nodded and the police scoffed.
