'Chapter 1.'

???'s POV.

Consciousness was hard to get a hold on. The only sound that could be heard was mechanical whirring and the soft beeping of a monitor. The lights were dim, and their surroundings were moist, they shifted around. The thick slurry that encased them moved swiftly with their own movement. Their eyes fluttered open, standing in front of the chamber was a woman, she was tall and pale. Her hair was a deep chocolate color, but her eyes... they were pitch black. They shivered as they felt the piercing gaze of the woman, she was not human.

There was noise from outside, shouting. Before they knew it, they could no longer feel the translucent sludge from before encasing them, no, there was no pressure, but there was gravity and the air, it was so cold. They were lying face down on a cold surface that shone a glittering color, that color was rather dull, and it was everywhere. There were footsteps and then shouting all around them. The next thing they knew, they were picked up and swaddled in a cloth... Now there was another scientist, their color matched the environment, dull and cold. Granted, their body was covered with color, but they were growing dim. They hardly even knew what the world was, but they could feel that the scientist that held them was not always like this, they felt such a strong connection to this one person. 

Lab!Ferris' POV.

She looked down at her creation, she was thrilled, her experiment was successful... |'"I shouldn't get ahead of myself... I need to make sure they remain alive outside of the stabilizer, they've never been removed from the stabilizer before."'| She thought to herself. She reached over for a damp rag; she felt the small creature squirm inside of the towel. She took a talon and forced its eye open, quickly and efficiently cleaning its eyes of any of the slurry that could've seeped in during its time in the stabilizer.

She felt Cassidy approach from the side, she noticeably tensed up around the presence of her sister. "Ferris." There it was - the typical stern tone you could expect from Cassidy. She turned her head, not making direct eye contact with Cassidy. There was always a dreadful feeling that came with looking Cassidy in the eyes, the darkness that engulfed her eyes added to her aura of mystery. "Yes... Cassidy?" She answered, her hand clenching tightly around the clipboard in her other hand. "Your little... Experiment is complete I see?" Cassidy said, her voice coming out in a low growl as she loomed over Ferris' shoulder. She shuddered, "no, actually." She corrected; she could practically feel Cassidy glaring over her shoulder. |"Shit... I really have to watch my tone..." | She thought worriedly. "They aren't finished quite yet; I want to thank you again for lending me some of your DNA, the first subject is stable, if you want to check on it. Its currently being held in my testing chambers." Ferris heard Cassidy audibly sigh. "You better have cleaned it up, it was filthy when I saw it last. I swear, you are so disorganized, your brain has been scattered recently, get yourself in order." She nodded, "I will."

Ferris looked over as Cassidy turned around and strode out of the room - she felt like she could truly breathe a sigh of relief as her sister's presence disappeared. She looked down at the life in her hands, its tiny wings unfurling. She cracked a soft smile, "you will be something great, believe me..." She muttered, holding the being close to her chest. "You will never have to live the life that I did... No, yours will be better, I'm going to make sure of that." She muttered pressing her forehead against it's in a sign of affection.

It squealed, the first noises it ever made. She cooed as she brought it close. "Well, you must be quite excited to meet me, huh?" She chuckled, for the first time in ages she was genuinely happy. "We must get you prepped for your enclosure; you will soon meet your sister." She muttered, rubbing its back through the cloth as it whined and chirped.

This was her new beginning.
