"I've heard about it but seeing all this stuff in real life grosses me so much. The thought itself is so disgusting." those were the remarks of his teammates, when homosexuality as a topic emerged in their talks.

He knew he will never be accepted,by his family, by his teammates, by his fans and most importantly by the person he loves, Ishan.

Ishan, his best friend for the world, was the one who had controlled his heart. Shubman was down bad for Ishan, yet he knew he will never be able to have his love.

"Bhaiya don't spoil our moods by talking about those people. Let's have our dinner in cleanliness." these words made Shubman's heart sink. Why? Because these were the remarks of his so-called best friend. And he was sure that if, mistakenly Ishan got to know about his feelings, then nothing would be the same.

"Shub....SHUB! Where are you lost yaar? Let's go to sleep na." Ishan jolted Shubman.

'With these eyes drowning me in them, for how long I will be able to hide my feelings.'he thought.

"Neel! What are you even saying? Just hearing about this is enough to make me throw up and someone did that!!" Shubman's mother remarked when Shahneel told her about her bestfriends from college marrying each other.

"Maa what's wrong in this? They loved each other and hence they married." Shahneel tried giving arguments in their favour.

"What are you even saying? Don't you feel disgusted supporting this illness. This western culture has just spoilt our young minds. I just wish no one in our family turns out to be one like this."and she got up from the dining table and went towards her room.

Now only Shubman and Shahneel we're left on the dining table, when Shubman asked her:

"Di, do you really think all this is normal?"

"Mann ab tu bhi maa jaisi baat mat kar. We're living in 2023 and you all are struck in that age old mentality which didn't even existed in earlier times."

"No di. I'm just asking if you think this is normal. What if I come out as a homosexual as well?"

"Ofcourse my baby bro. It's all normal. And if you turn to be gay, I'll support you with my whole heart."

"But I've heard someone say that real men can never be gay."

"Then those people don't have any knowledge of sexuality. Mann, being a gay doesn't mean you are not a man. Sex and sexual orientation are two different things.Whatever your sexual orientation is, at the end of the day, you are still a man."

Shubman couldn't control his emotions when his elder sibling was supporting him even without knowing about him and he started sobbing.

"Di I thought I will have to keep it as my deepest secrets until I die, but your words have encouraged me to tell you about this. I want to come out of the closet di. I can't handle this now."

Shahneel stood up, took two steps towards her brother and engulfed him in a big hug.

"I'm so proud of you my baby bro. Even if no one supports you, you will always find me by your side. Thank you for telling me."

Overwhelmed with everything he was feeling at that moment, Shubman couldn't believe he finally did this. He finally have someone who didn't judge him for what he is. A new hope emerges in his heart.
