Kaila and I had been living in London for the last year. We shared the third floor of a modest house in an old neighborhood. It had separate bedroom wings but shared the common kitchen and TV lounge. The house was old, but it had a lot of character. We came and went largely from the metal fire escape stairs at the back of the building. The downstairs neighbors were sweet and elderly. We looked after them, and they generally ignored the fact that we were upstairs. They didn't climb the stairs well anymore so the second floor rarely was used unless their children came to visit on the holidays. It was peaceful and blissfully cheap! The best part of the arrangement was that it came with a garage! Finding a place to park in town was crazy and I was not about to let my beloved Audi sit at the curb.

I was in my last year of medical school, doing my residency at nearby Royal London Hospital. Kaila works at a local high end men's fashion boutique. Selling suits & dressing the finest men in London.

I always teased her that that store was going to get her one hell of a good-looking man! She's a beautiful girl that all the men seem to notice. I on the other hand just got to tend to sick, old, infirm men in the hospital ward! Not the easiest place to land a date.

My schedule was always weird trying to keep hospital hours, long sometimes 24hr shifts and days on call. It was my day off and I crashed on the couch with my favorite Top Gear reruns. Oh how I enjoy these so much....no matter how many times I see them!!

My phone buzzed with a text message. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was Kaila and not the hospital calling

Kaila: OMG! You will never guess who just walked into the store?!

Me: no clue...Who?

Kaila: Jeremy Clarkson!!

Me: No way!?! How is he...I mean with all of the BBC drama???

Kaila: Well he hasn't shaved...he looks pretty scruffy. He's in the dressing room now!!

Me: Well go help him!!! Get photos!!

The phone went quiet for far too long....I couldn't help myself I had to know more! I rang her, but no answer. The store must be busy... Finally 45min later I get a reply:

Kaila: Going to do lunch with him after work. Will be home later...wish me luck!

I squealed with delight! She's living a dream and I can't wait to hear all about it!
