Dead don't speak

Pre apocalypse

"Aria hunny!" Her mom shouted
"What mom!" Aria said in a irritating tone
"You must watch your brother while I run to the store I won't be long okay hun!" The mom exclaimed while walking out the house before aria had a chance to speak. Aria made her way down the stairs to be greeted by her 6 year old brother Damian.
"Aria!" Damian shouted while pulling her hand to the living room. Aria always had a soft spot for Damian and always tried to take care of him. Her dad was a alcoholic and never really cared about them. He left when Damian was 3 leaving their mom too take care of the kids.
"Okay Damian how about you go fetch some toys from your room and I'll get us something to eat, Sound good?" Aria said with a smile
"Okie dokie!" Damian ran off to his room. Aria made her way to the kitchen and tried to make something with the food she could find. Arias family was not ever wealthy and always struggled to get by but her mom was a full time waitress and she was going to apply for a job very soon.
*Beep, Beep* The television started to make a very loud sound causing aria to accidentally cut her hand with a knife. She quickly rushed to the bathroom and wrapped some gauze around the wound making sure it was covered. She made her way back to the Television to be greeted by an emergency alert.*Please stay indoors and remain calm* She didn't understand what this meant so she flipped through the channels until she got to the news. *attention Citizens, there is a virus spreading around rapidly, causing what seems to be dead people eating other living people. If you get bit please quarantine yourself till further notice, Thank you!* She was in shock. She saw this kind of stuff in movies but never expected it to happen in real life. Damian walked in the room with a handful of toys and placed them on the ground.
"Can we play now aria?" He asked with a smile on his face. "You start playing and I'll join in a second okay!" She tried to sound normal so she doesn't scare her brother but it seemed to be quite a challenge. *She flipped through the channels again until she made it to another news channel* Aria couldn't believe her eyes. There was footage of people getting attacked some of them getting their throats ripped out while others getting a simple bite. She immediately grabbed her phone and dialled her mom. "Come on mom please pick up" however no one answered. There was a loud thud outside the front door *Phew* she immediately grabbed Damian and hid him in the closet. "Listen here bud if anything happens I want you to stay in this closet okay, do you understand?" There was a second of silence before you could hear the tiny little sobs of Damian "I understand!" He replied
Aria swiftly closed the closet door and made her way to the kitchen. *Phew* there it was again it sounded almost like a body hitting itself against the old door. She grabbed the knife she cut herself with earlier and started to approach the door.With every step there was a thud. Fear filled the room as aria took her last step towards the door. She quickly opened it to reveal a body on the floor. She jolted back in shock and stared. It was dead, at least she thought it was. She slammed the door and locked it. Damian slithered his way out of the closet and sobbed. "Oh Damian it's okay I'm here I promise!" Silence filled the room when the phone rang. Aria immediately picked up and it was her best friend Kyle. Kyle and her were friends since the 5th grade and always been their for each other. Kyles also the best football player on his team.
"Kyle! Omg your okay!?" Aria said in a surprised but grateful tone.
"Oh thank god your alive aria!, listen I'm coming over to your house me and a couple other people have found a nice secluded area to stay at" Kyle stated in a happy tone
"But the news reporters said to stay inside our houses it's not safe out there"
"Trust me its just as dangerous to stay in your house aria we have a spot with food water and another kid for Damian"
Aria thought for a second not wanting to leave her house.
"Okay just be quick it's scary here!"
*30 minutes later*
*knock, Knock*
