After I walk out of class, still stunned, I find myself searching for Scar, even though I know her class stays later than mine I can't help but want, need her comfort.

I'm not proficient in Latin by any means and studying is not something I enjoy doing. I can already see the failure in my head, there is no way I will be able to pass the exam, no matter if I study for 10 days, 10 months, or even 10 years will my Latin be good enough.

I take a deep breathe, to try and calm myself before heading to the local coffee shop where Scar and I planned to meet for lunch. It's a 15 minute walk from campus but their coffee is to die for and we will always sacrifice our time for coffee and maybe a walk is just what I need right now.

The way to the shop is a beautiful street with large trees of gold and red hues, aligned with beautiful white fences. Soft lights hang off the trees and at night gives the impression of fairies dancing around it. I could stand and admire them forever but as the wind blows harder, I can't help but pick up my pace.

I'm stopped suddenly when a ball of white cotton falls in front of me. I stand shocked as glance down at it in confusion and peer closer only to find a small kitten staring up at me blankly.

"Hello, baby." I bend down in front of it, careful not to scare it off but it seems unbothered by my presence or the fact that it just fell off of tree as it licks it's paw, and I look around only to see someone staring at me inquisitively from across the street and I stand up quickly as they begin to cross the street, looking both ways, before coming to stand right in front of me.

"Yours?" I ask the man. He's older than me, I'm sure. Attractive and handsome and he seems kind. His eyes are the first thing I notice, deep and grey, I want to drown in them.

He smiles. "I'm afraid not."

I nod my head and pick the kitten up, she is small but her fur seems to be well kept and soft with little dirt. I'm unsure what to do with her, my flat doesn't allow pets. I could probably sneak her in, at least that's what Scar would tell me to do if she were here but with what happened last time...

The man continues to look at me for a second before bringing his attention to the kitten in my arms. He reaches down and pets her ear, she leans into his hand and purs. She likes him, that must be a good thing then. Animals have a sixth sense for bad people, right?

"Do you want her?" I blurt out. He looks up at me confused.

"You don't want her?"

I frown looking down at her. "The place I live doesn't allow animals."

"Ah. I see." He says, extending his arms and I give her to him.

She settles against him but looks at me with her cute doll eyes and tilts her head.

I frown deeper and he notices. "Are you sure?"

"Yes, um, last time my friend snuck a gerbil that she ordered off this sketchy website into our apartment, it escaped, and well our landlord killed it on accident thinking it was a rat."

He laughs softly. "I'm sure she won't be mistaken for a..rodent."

I shake my head at the thought of it, Scar went crazy and almost burned the place down, after that incident. We almost got kicked out and if not for her father...

"Still, I would not want to risk it." I say, although reluctantly and he nods his head. "If it's too much trouble for you—" He cuts me off by shaking his head. "It's no trouble at all. I own and live alone."

I smile because it makes me feel better that she will be safe and well fed in a home tonight. "That's good then."

Reaching down, I pet her head. "Well um..." I trail off when I see Scar walking in the distance.

"Oh," We make eye contact and she grins, I grin back. She walks faster until she gets to me and practically falls on me. "Luci, baby, I missed you so much. The teacher was such a bore, I fell asleep halfway through his lecture."

I laugh and she finally seems to notice the other presence here because she stands up, but keeps her arms around my shoulder and gives the man a once over. "And, you are?"

He smiles at her and she stumbles a bit. "Lukas. And you are?"

"Scarlett." She glared at him for putting her off balance with his handsome smile and he smiles even wider before looking at me again.

"And you?"

"Lucija." I say and his eyes soften.

"Lucija." He repeats and I can't control the way my heart flutters when he says my name.

We stare at each other for a moment until Scar bumps my shoulder, a cheeky grin on her face. "We're going to be late if we don't hurry." She says and I nod my head.

"It was nice meeting you, Lukas.

"And to you as well, little one." I say petting the kitten once more and Scar squeals.

"Oh my god, Luci, is that an angel?" She melts as she pets the kitten and squishes its cheek.

I giggle and have to physically pull her away from it and we part ways but I hear my name being called,
"Lucija."

I turn back and look at him. "Yes?"

"Her name?"

I stare confused until he nods to the kitten.

"Shouldn't you decide?" I ask but he shakes his head.

"It has to be you."

I'm unsure what to think of his words so I just think for a long moment before Scar's earlier words come to my head and I grin.

"Angel."

Before turning, I see the corner of his lips lift up and Scar and I walk hand in hand, giggling our way to the café, my heart beating 10x faster than it should.
