Robert's POV
Age 9
I walk into mine and Evan's bedroom and bypass him and Jasmine. They were playing with dolls like usual. That's not my thing, I like video games.I play COD when my mums not watching.
The front door slams shut and both Evan and I tense. "Georgie!" Dad yells. "Where are the boys?"
"Your dad sounds angry," Jasmine says.
"He always is," Evan murmurs.
Dad storms into our room and stops short when he sees Jasmine. "What the hell are you doing?" He demands.
"We are playing," Jasmine answers.
"Jasmine go home," Dad orders.
"But-"
"Go Jas," I hiss. She nods and rushes out of the bedroom. Dad glares at Evan till he hears the front door close.
"Are you a faggot?" Dad seethes. "Only girls play with dolls."
"But daddy I like-" I see Dad raise his hand. Just like he does with Mum and push Evan out of the way.
Dad's fist connects with my face and I fall to the floor. I clutch my jaw in pain and look up at him in shock. "Are you seriously defending him?" Dad growls.
"Go," I whisper to Evan.
He was crying and shaking his head. "Rob-"
I groan as Dad kicks me in the stomach. "Do as he says boy," Dad growls at Evan. Evan runs out of the room sobbing. "Now what am I going to do to you."
"Hurt me like you do Mum," I say sarcastically. He backhands me.
"I'm going to teach you a lesson," he says. "Beat the man into you, like my dad did to me. He was a wise man. You can't have a respectful wife if you don't teach her a lesson."
"I hate you," I croak.
"Good," Dad says smiling. "Use that."

Age 10
"Look at you," Chip taunts Evan as he and his friends push him around. "You're a freak!""I am not," Evan cries.
I drop my bag and storm over to the group. "Leave him alone," I growl.
"Oh look your brother is here to save you," Chip laughs. "Cause you can't fight your own battles."
"Because Evan is a lover," I say. "And he isn't as fucked up as I am to be able to hit someone and like it."
"Robert-"
"Evan go find Scarlett," I order him. He nods and runs away. "You ready to die?" I ask Chip, rolling up the sleeves of my Christmas sweater.
I love my mum who bought this for me.
"Funny," Chip drawls. "There are four of us and one of you."
I smirk. "Come at me then."
One of them does and I punch him in the throat. The other two come at once and I grab their heads and bang them together.
"Seems like it's just you and me now," I growl. Chip gulps and goes to run, but I grab the back of his collar and push him into the wall. "Let's make one thing clear," I growl. "You will never hurt my brother again, you won't even look at him, otherwise you will find a worse fate than your friends. Got it?"
"Please just let me go," Chip cries. I drop him and he runs away like a little pussy.
I go and find my brother and see him sitting on the slide as Scarlett comforts him. She sees me and runs over. "Did you deal with them?" She asks.
"Yes," I answer. She leans up on her tippy toes and kisses me. She moves away and I wipe my mouth in disgust. "Did you just kiss me?"
She shrugs. "Yeah."
"You're a girl," I say in disgust. "I don't want your yucky germs."
"Well, now you do," Scarlett teases. I hear a car horn and she smiles. "That's my mum, bye!"
I watch her walk away and grunt as I'm pushed to the ground. I look up at Evan. "You can't kiss Scarlett," he growls. "She's mine."
"Hey, she kissed me," I snap. "I didn't want it, girls are disgusting."
Scarlett is disgusting

Age 16
Evan was always good at these things. Here I am at Mum and Cole's wedding reception, sitting in the corner, pigging out on some fucking pork things and Evan is discussing colleges with our Aunt Angie.College. We are sixteen, I don't need to think about that yet.
I glance over at Mum and see her and Cole kissing. I liked Cole. He was good to my mum and she was good to him.
Evan was their golden child and what was I? Some fucking reject who got his dad's violence gene.
I want to hurt people all the time. My dad was right, I am going to be like him.
"Hey stranger," Scarlet says, sitting beside me. I grunt. "Well, you're fun."
"This isn't the fun I like," I say. "Too many people."
"Evan seems to be enjoying himself," Scarlett murmurs.
I scowl. "Whatever."
"You used to be so protective of him," Scarlett says. "What happened?"
He has you is what happened
"I still love him," I mutter.
"Does he know that?" Scarlett whispers.
"Oh fuck off, Scarlet," I snap. I storm off to the bathroom and she stops me before I enter.
"Don't tell me to fuck off," she says. "Everyone else may be afraid of you, but I'm not."
"You should be I'll snap you like a twig," I growl.
"Do it," she snaps.
I grab her face and smash my lips on hers. She moans and wraps her arms around my neck. I push her into the bathroom and shut the door, pressing her against the sink. I plunge my tongue into her mouth and love the way her hands tighten in my hair.
The bathroom door opens and Scarlett pushes me off her. Cole looks at us in shock. "Uh, I didn't see anything," he stammers and rushes off.
Before I could get a word in Scarlett races out of the bathroom.
She doesn't know it yet, but she's mine.
