Michael

Maddie and I haven't been talking to each other for days. I've been going to work and back home, not acknowledging her. I was still upset about what she did. I didn't understand why she needed to be around her family so much. We've been married for years and it seems so one sided now.

I can admire her for trying to make our marriage work again but I'm afraid that it's going down the same path it did before she lost her memory. I knew I needed to talk to her eventually but I'm not ready yet. I miss the person I wanted to marry all those years ago.

"Hey Mike, drinks tonight?" Adrian said as he peeped his head into my office.

"Not tonight." I shook my head as I typed on my computer.

"Come on, we haven't hung out in a while and you look stressed out!" He says as he fully walks into my office and sits across from me. He's right, I've been stressed about my wife and her secrets. Not to mention having to work while dealing with all of this.

"Fine." I said, not looking away from my computer.

"Awesome! I've been wanting to go back to that place we went to." He says and I quickly shot him down.

"Somewhere else." I said. He sighed playfully and agreed to find a local bar. Adrian and I talked for a little while longer until it was just about time for us to go home. I was happy to finally be away from work.

When I got home, Maddie was sitting at the dining table going through some papers. I didn't know what to think. I remembered she told her sister about wanting to divorce me if she doesn't feel any love in this marriage. Instead of greeting her, I went straight up to the guest room to change out of my suit. She didn't acknowledge me at all or try to follow me.

Should I confront her now about her past? I didn't want to make things worse but it seems like it's already gotten to that point. I decided against it and went to shower instead. When I finished, Maddie was sitting on the bed waiting for me.

"Michael, can we go back to how things were before? I hate when you're mad at me." Maddie pouted.

"Sure, just tell your family we aren't going out with them for a while and everything will be fine." I shrugged and she sighed.

"You know I can't do that." She says.

"Yes you can! what do they have against you?" I finally asked. I've been wanting to know for a while. It's like her family has some big secret and they're keeping me out of it. Could Messiah be the secret?

"Never mind." She says and storms out.

"Why?" I asked as I followed her out the room. She didn't answer me and instead went into her room and slammed the door. I stood in front of her door for a few more seconds before heading back to the room I've been occupying. I can't keep doing this with her. We're going back to square one. I thought things would be different after her accident but it seems like she's back to the person she was before anything happened.

Hours had passed and I finally decided to get dressed for tonight. I actually do need a drink or two after talking to Maddie. I'm afraid that we aren't going to work out after all. As much as I want to keep my marriage in tact, I can't especially with her controlling family. She's a grown ass woman and still feels like she has to listen to anything her parents say.

As I was leaving out of my room, I saw that Maddie opened the door and was sitting on the bed talking on the phone. I stepped back a little so she couldn't see me and decided to listen in on her call.

"What about what I want?" She says. At this moment, I wished I could hear who she was talking to and what they were saying.

"Maybe I still want to work things out with my husband. You wouldn't understand because you don't have one!" She yelled. I was too stunned at her words. She really wants to work things out with me? If that's the truth, then why is she being difficult?
