Aashna's POV
'Vivah sampann hua. Aaj se aap dono pati patni hain'
A lump formed in my throat as soon as those words hit my ears. My heartbeats raced insanely as if i had run a marathon. My thoughts were running wild as i slowly tried to let the reality sink in.
I was married.
I was freaking married.
Everything was going to change. My family, my home and most importantly, my life. My entire life. Till now, it was just my family and i. But hereafter, I'd have to leave my most precious people behind and have to start my new life, with a person whom i hardly knew.
From being Aashna Kaushal, i was now Aashna Anurudh Sharma.
I shifted my gaze a little to look at him. His face looked calm as if he felt nothing at all. He seemed unaffected with the changes our lives were going to go through. And here, i was turning insane with even the thought of leaving my family. My stomach churned with anxiety.
I had been so caught up with all the wedding preparations that i didn't even let this thought come to me. Only now I'm realising that i would not be seeing my parents everyday. I would not be having the time of my life with my brother as our regular evenings.
This was all because of my mother. I asked her that i want to go on an adventure. She, being the way she is, very sweetly tricked me saying 'Beta, Shaadi krlo, adventure hi adventure hai..'
I will see you later, mommy!
I came out of my thoughts as the priest asked us to take the blessings of our elders. I blinked as he stood up immediately while i looked down at my lehenga holding it with my hands trying to get up without falling down. Slowly and gradually, i managed to get up while i was cursing my cousins for making me choose such heavy lehenga. Not that i didn't like it, i freaking loved it, but it was extremely heavy and i felt i would fall any moment. But somehow i managed to carry it.
Wait.
Wait.
Wait.
Wasn't he supposed to give me his hand to help me stand up?
I looked at him who stood there with usual calmness on his face. He didn't even care to look at me. And here i was expecting him to not take his eyes off his extremely gorgeous and sensational bride all through the wedding. Pardon me for being a hopeless romantic.
We both moved to our parents touching their feet as they blessed us happily. My father hugged me tightly kissing my forehead. I giggled feeling Arhaan, my brother jumping on me from behind hugging us both together while my mother took our balayian in her usual style. Ahhhh, my jaans!
We were meeting everyone when my mother called us for dinner. My stomach grumbled as soon as my eyes looked at several food items served especially for us both. I was hungry.
Before i could eat, i looked at his siblings who were sitting in front of us on the other side of the table. They asked us to feed each other. I looked at him and he was already looking at me.
'Is it necessary?'
His voice came out making me sigh. Is everything need to be a necessity for him? Some things are done out of love too. We weren't in love, of course. But at least he could do something out of courtesy. I was his newly-wedded wife and he showed no interest. That made me have second thoughts about him. Was he even happy with this marriage? I sighed.
'Come on, bhai! You've just got married, that too to such a gorgeous girl. Show some excitement..'
Akriti, his sister's voice came making me smile. She looked cute. Her lips pouted trying to melt him. I heard him sighing before taking the spoon.
I looked at him again as he forwarded a spoonful of rice towards me. Leaning forward, i opened my mouth taking in the rice. My eyes glued to his all the while. His lips curved up a little making my heart skip a beat. Finally.
I took another spoon and mixed some dal with rice. Taking a little in the spoon, i forwarded to him with a slight smile which he ate smiling back at me. I looked down blushing a little as our siblings and cousins hooted for us. We kept feeding each other till we finished our dinner.
'Aashna..'
I looked at him as he whispered my name. This was the first time he called today.
'Ji, Anurudh..'
'Aap bohot khubsurat lag rahi hain..'
I blinked furiously hearing his words. Did i hear him right? He just complimented me. Like, for real. I couldn't help but smile widely at him. I was happy. Not that i needed his validation to know that i looked beautiful, but it somehow gave peace to my heart. I knew i was pretty!
'Thank you! You look handsome too!'
I said to which he nodded at me smiling. I've been waiting to say this since the time i saw him. He, without any doubt, was an absolutely gorgeous man, with little brown tone to his skin. His eyes were deep black complimented by long, thick lashes.
Girls like me would die to have lashes like those!
And not to forget, his heartwarming smile, one to die for. I still remember the moment I saw him smiling for the first time on our engagement. I was awestruck. I guess that would be the first ever time in my life i felt my heart skipping beats.
'Bhai, Bhabhi!! Let's go for photoshoot..'
I heard his brother, Amrit, calling us to get out photos clicked. I was about to get up when i saw a manly hand in front of me. Lifting my eyes, i saw him looking back at me with a small smile adorning his lips. My heartbeat escalated quickly seeing him gazing at me with so much admiration in his eyes. Finally, this man was showing interest.
I kept my hand in his getting up with his help and we moved towards our siblings....
