It’s my first day of senior year at my new school, and let’s say I wasn’t looking forward to it. My parents choose the up most random time to move. They choose to move after I had already been friends with the people I know since elementary school. I have been with the same people for as long as I could think of. And we had to move now? Why couldn’t she just wait till after senior year? That way at least I would have friends in school. The summer didn’t matter much to me because I spent most of it working and saving for college.
It was already sixth period and I had just got out of the most dreadful ling class for every new student. Lunch. I had no one to sit with so I chose a random table: and it was my first and last time there! They were way too loud and way too rowdy. It’s junior year; do you still feel the need to flick food at each other?
I was the last one in the hallway. This school was labeled weird. They had an A building and a B building, but on the schedule they just tell you a number. Um what side am I on? A or B? I tired both and I knew this was going to make me late. Another dreadful feeling of being late. If you’re late everyone is going to stare at you when you walk in. I walk a few more doors down until I find the room I was looking for. Room 9 in the B building. I looked through the door window and saw that the teacher was already at the front of the classroom. I wanted to get this over with so I opened the door and walked in with my eyes straight ahead trying unsuccessfully not to make eye contact. I walked up to the teacher to give him my schedule. Since I was new, every class I went to I had to get my schedule signed by that teacher to make sure I was in the right room.
“Hello I am Mr. Anderson and I will be your new world history teacher.” He said holding out his hand. I took his hand and shook it. He had a nice firm handshake. I mentally slapped myself. Where did that come from?!
“Do you want to introduce yourself?” he asked with a smile.
“I’m Becky.” I said
“Well hello Becky.” He said. He turned to face the class and said “Class this is Becky and she will be attending this class with us now.”
I heard a few murmurs then some guy from the back hollered. “How old are you? You are smoking” he said dragging out smoking.
I blushed, embarrassed waiting for the teacher to tell me where I can sit. I just hoped it wasn’t next to him.
“We just received a hot new single fish in this ocean” I’m guessing the other guys friend said. Was that all they got? those were some wierd and unattractive pick up lines.
. Can I please take a seat now? I thought
“Hmm guess you’re popular already.” The teacher said. He bent down so he could use his knee as a back while he signed my paper. After he was finished he put his hand on his chin while deciding where I would sit.
“You can take a seat right next to Sam. Sam can you please raise your hand.” A red head girl in the back raised her hand without looking up. I’m guessing she was in the middle of a very ‘important’ text message.
I hurried to the back of the room never more anxious to take a seat.
I put my stuff on the floor and listened to what the teacher was saying. “Becky. I guess I’ll have to talk to you after class on how to get you caught up. Okay?” he asked
I shook my head. “Yeah”
I paid close attention to what he was saying. It was hard not to, and I wasn’t the only girl doing so, or guy.
He went on and on about why the fued between the montague and the capulets were son important, but it was very hard to concentrate. He could have been a model and I don’t even think he realized it. I wondered if he was single. I didn’t see a ring on the finger or any pictures on his desk. But who was I kidding I could never date my teacher, even though he did look like he could be a student here. Number 1 it was against the law and second, it was so out of line. I was kidding myself. This was just some new school crush I had on my teacher. Everyone’s had a crush on their teacher before, or at least thought they were attractive.
