"Ugh, I'm so bored!" Brooke complained as she flung herself onto her bed. "Maybe you should try taking a walk around campus." Brooke's roommate Angie replied. They're both in college. They've been roommates for a year now, and they're pretty close.
"You know what, that doesn't sound half bad." Brooke smiled at Angie, "Do you want to join me this time?" Angie shook her head as a response. "Can't, you know finals are coming up soon, and some of us aren't as smart as you. I've failed the past couple of tests!" Angie groaned out. Brooke still smiled at her, "That's fine, have fun studying then!"
Brooke put on her hoodie and shoes and waved to Angie as she walked out of their shared dorm room. The sound of others chatting was clear, but it wasn't clear enough for her to hear. Though, as she got closer to the dining hall, it started to sound more like yelling. There are so many people there. It's practically impossible to hear someone that's directly in front of you!
That wasn't anything unusual. It's always loud no matter what time of day it is. Although, as Brooke was getting closer to the exit of the building, someone's conversation caused her to suddenly stop in her tracks.
"Have you heard about that abandoned middle school only a couple blocks down?" A girl with shoulder-length light brown hair, round face, and blue eyes asked a girl next to her who had golden retriever colored hair that reached a little past her chest, round face, and hazel like eyes.
"No? What happened? Also, what's so special about it is that it's just another run-down school that no one wants." The blonde one stated flatly. "Well, apparently, it's haunted, like really haunted." The girl with light brown hair said it more sarcastically at the end. "Like come on, it's abandoned. What did you think was gonna happen?" They both laughed and began to chat about something else.
That conversation had striked Brooke's attention as she walked out the exit door before the two other girls could notice her eavesdropping. She decided to go walk those couple of blocks just to check it out. Though she knew not to go in it, she just wanted to see what it looked like on the outside.
As soon as she walked outside, the cool spring breeze hit against her face. She found this weather quite calming to be in. The light breeze swaying through her wavy chest lengthed light brown hair, her dark brown eyes shimmered with the sun's light, her tan skin was so warm, and the little freckles on her nose always stuck out just a little around this time of year. Spring was by far her favorite season by how much it complemented her looks.
Brooke never really liked how she looked and didn't have much pride in herself when it came to her looks. Her roommate Angie always looked much better compared to her, and it made Brooke just a little bit jealous. Angie had black hair with a beautiful wolf cut, light brown eyes, mixed skin tone, an hourglass body, almost everything about her was perfect, and she always had a boyfriend.
That had always made Brooke a little jealous. She had never been in a relationship because no one had really liked her like that. She also had a terrible fear of rejection, so even if she did have feelings for someone, she wouldn't even tell them. Though there was one guy, Kai. She fell head over heals for him, but he never showed any signs that he liked her, so she just attempted to get over that 'dumb' crush of hers. Might as well get it over now than be rejected later, is what she would always say.
She began to think of all of that and started to get a little upset, so she just sat down on a bench in a nearby park so she could clear her mind for a second. Brooke took out her phone and put an airpod in to listen to music.
Her phone was all she was focused on, and she didn't pay attention to anything else around her. That was until someone had tapped her on her shoulder. She shot up her head and looked beside her. When she saw who it was, a small blush creeped across her face that was so faint you could barely tell it was there. She couldn't believe her eyes.
"Hey Brooke, it's been a while. How've ya been?" Kai smiled at her. Brooke blinked her eyes and rubbed them multiple times, making sure that she wasn't just seeing stuff. Once she realized that it's real, a little bit of a more noticeable blush swept across her face.
"Oh, uhm, I've been fine, how about you?" Even though she tried not to sound awkward, it kind of failed miserably. She was still not over that crush on him yet. She may have tried, but it really did not work what so ever.
Kai smiled again and laughed a little, "It's been such a long time since I've seen someone I recognize from high school, and I'm glad it was you!" Brooke looked into his bright blue eyes. He looked almost exactly the same as what he did in high school. Dirty blonde curly hair, tall, skinny, tanned skin, calming voice, smooth skin, almost perfect. She did, in fact, miss his presence and was happy to see him again.
Brooke smiled as well while looking at him, "I'm glad I got to see you as well!" Kai looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "Really, you missed little old Kai!?" He said it in such a mocking voice, but to Brooke, it was cute and adorable, but she wasn't gonna show him.
"WAIT, wait, wait, wait. If you're here then..." Kai looked Brooke up and down with his bright blue eyes, "That must mean you live around here!?" Brooke sighs at Kai's new 'understanding', he was right, though. "Yeah, sadly, I live around you I assume." She announced sarcastically but laughed.
Kai pretended to be offended by what she said, but he did end up laughing as well. "Anyways, I'm bored, so you're hanging out with me whether you want to or not!" Kai said it so normally like they had been hanging out and talking for so long. "You aren't even going to ask if I had plans or not?" Brooke questioned him. "Well, you never make plans. You were always a go with the flow person in middle and high school, and I'm pretty sure that'll never change." Kai just stared at her, but sadly, he was right.
Brooke laughed at what he said and agreed with him. She did find it odd that he just wanted to hang out out of the blue, but he isn't smart enough to kill her or kidnap her. He was way too dumb to do anything like that.
