————————————————A Couple Days Later
Cameras flash as Anais walks out of the convenience store as with bags in her hands. If Anais was given this much attention before this, she would have practically gushed and melted In front of the crowd. But, of course, life could never treat someone that well. Anais had previously accustomed to being overlooked by everyone, and with almost every news outlet talking about her and stalking her, made life 100x harder. Anais reported information about the cat to nearby police departments but was unable to find an owner linking to the beige Birman kitten.
So, for now, she had to care for the small cat while the officers had to look for more possible candidates for the little Birman to be adopted by.
ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
Anais eye's flicker as she is woken by soft, tiny pats on her nose. She tiredly looks up to see the Birman cat on top of the edge of her collarbone. If the situation was different, Anais would most likely coo at the child's actions. The Birman meows and hops onto the ground, and then bounces to the almost empty water and food bowl. Anais rubs the sleep from her face and stumbles over to the kitchen pantry. She opens the doors and crouches at the backend of the pantry to grab the large cat food bag.Anais pours the cat food out of the bag into the food bowl. As the Birman eats, Anais carries the almost empty water bowl to the kitchen sink and pours it out. She replaces the past water with slightly heated gluten-free, almond milk. Anais' phone rings from in between the sofa cushions. She checks the caller id and swipes the screen to pick up, "Hello?"
"Hello, Anais. It's me, Dr. Oda. How is the cat today?" Her voice was smooth and gentle, which reminded Anais of one of her old middle school teachers.
"Yes, she's fine."
"Is she physically and mentally active?"Anais turns and looks at the kitten who had recently stopped eating and was now staring at her with a tilted head. Her small paws rested on the crimson carpet under her bowls.
"She's energetic, but she's very, I guess you could say, skittish around strangers." Anais explains, remembering the day before. Iyawa had tried to pet the kitten before it ran away and hid under the couch for three hours straight, and would hiss at anyone who tried to get her from underneath the cushions.Dr. Oda hums and light typing is heard in the background, "Is she well trained?"
"Very," more typing is heard in the background.More questions are asked until Dr. Oda says her goodbyes and hangs up the phone. Anais sighs and plops on the light gray sofa, with the Birman kitten doing the same.
(っ- ‸ - ς)
"Hey, are you alright?" Iyawa questions, peeking her head around Anais' doorframe. Anais sits with the cat in her arms while reading 'A Cat Mother's Lifestyle Tips!'. Anais responds with a quiet 'yes' whilst still intently reading the book. The kitten lays in its makeshift bed that was made of small couch pillows and stolen blankets. Iyawa sighs and shakes her head, she goes and sits next to Anais, taking her book away in the process.
"I've been through enough hardships to know when someone is not okay, especially a lady. So, tell me, what's wrong."
Anais stared at the floor for a moment before breaking down in tears. Her sobs were enough to wake up the kitten next to the dresser across the room. The cat stared at the two, conflicted with his past and present actions. He couldn't just disappear and loath in self-pity, not again. But in this form he couldn't comfort her either. Maybe he should've stayed back on his own planet. Maybe she would be happier without him. A cowardly way of thinking, but it was the only logical plan in his mind. Even so, it would feel like torture to his every core, his very soul.
Against his better judgment, he vanished, back into his endless void of insecurity. The constant heartbreak burned alive on the inside. A treacherous battle in his mind, he'll simply go back to his planet, like always.

"Again?!"
The queen yelled across the long spotless table to her youngest son. This was now the 167th time he ran away from home and came back at the worst time.
"Your brother is finally having his matrimony and you decided it would be a perfect time to barge in?! Even without proper clothes?!"
Lufu sat in silence while staring at palms. Everytime was the same; come back, get ridiculed, run away, repeat'.He didn't mean to cause this, but he felt too hopeless to do anything else. Lufu recalled joyful memories that his selfishness ran away from. For years, his parents thought of him as a failure and disappointment to their legacy. Forever to be shunned and humiliated in front of his peers. Surprisingly, he was never banished from the kingdom or even the planet.
The first time he ran away, guards were forced to track him down, and were threatened with death if they refused. But now, no one seems to care. Which he thought was more breathable but still a bit astonishing. The sense of freedom is captivating but too much of it can lead someone into a downward spiral.
"Unbelievable, to think that you would finally change after all this time. 'The youngest prince of the royal family, turned rogue'. Do you know what the papers say about us? They think we are cruel, biased dictators! Do you know how much that hurts our reputation?"Reputation. The base of a person's psyche, whether they care for it or not. As the queen rambles on, Lufu could only think of this as his fault. Why does he do this to himself constantly? Seems like he asks himself that question more than anyone else does.
