Chapter 4

Athena's POV
Today is the day, it's my first game day with the team and let's just say I'm hyped. I just finished changing in the girls' locker room and started heading to the boys' locker room so my dad could do his pep talk.
I walk in and all I see is Musa rapping and the boys dancing and I decided to join in. After the rap, we tried to get my dad to go.
"Go Coach, Go Coach" we chant
"Y'all no" he replies
"Dad, do show them who's the best," I say, trying to convince him. My dad starts dancing and we all hype him up. My dad stops and says "How y'all feeling?", we all answer good, then he asks again but this time we say it louder. "Hold each other accountable today. Feel me? Run the offense. Lockdown defense. Show up not just for yourselves, but for each other. Mus, my brother take us out!" He says.
"Athena let me talk to you over here". I walk over to my dad and ask what's up "I know that this is your first game and that you want to do well but I think you should sit this one out" he says.
I looked at him shocked and upset," WHAT!!" I yell "Don't you know how much this means to me".
"I know, but this is Jace's chance to get this team off the ground," he says. I couldn't believe the words coming out of his mouth.
"You want me, your daughter, to give up her chance to play in front of Overtime for a kid you've only known for what, 4 days," I say while shaking my head in disbelief. "You what fine I'm going home," I say while walking out. When walking out I saw my mom
"What's wrong sweetheart" she asks, and all I did was just cry. She hugs me and I ask if we could go home.
