Peter wasn't with me when I woke up. It was 8:36AM. I had 4 missed calls from TK and 7 from Lucy. I hadn't woke up in time for school.
Did Peter go to school without me?
I walked around his room and looked at all of his things. He didn't have much: a few video games, some figurines, a beanbag, a shoebox with a bunch of pictures of random people. I looked through the pictures.
"Who is this?" I whispered as I picked up a picture of Peter and a girl. She was curvy, lots of freckles, eyeliner blindness, and gothic style. The back of the picture revealed that it was took about 3 months ago. I had never saw this girl at our school. Was she from a different one?
I closed the shoebox and left Peter's house. I stopped at Lucy's. She wasn't home. I picked out an outfit and walked to school. It was pretty far, so I wasn't there until about 10AM. I had to go through the front office because all of the other side doors were locked. The halls were filled with students eager to get to class. I got bumped into a few times. People kept hitting my bruises, making me wince.
"Y/N?" I heard Sarah's voice approaching. "Omg! What happened to you!?" She grabbed my chin and lifted my head.
"Oh, nothing."
"Y/N, these bruises are huge! Who did this? Is this why you weren't here this morning? Did someone attack you!?" She pulled me over to the lockers so nobody would bump into me anymore.
"N-no, I wasn't attacked. Well, I was."
"Who did it?"
"I don't know..."
"You didn't see their face at all?"
"No."
"Ugh." Sarah hugged me lightly. "I'm so happy you're okay."
"Yeah, me too." I smiled.
"Here, lemme take you to class." She offered her arm. I held onto it.

Sarah led me to the Alternative Classroom. I walked through the door. Peter's eyes widened as he saw me. I sat down in a desk near his.
"What are you doing here, love?" His voice was calm.
"I can't miss school. I don't want to fail."
"Bold of you to come out looking like that." He eyed my hickeys and finger-shaped bruises on my neck.
"Mhm, this is on you."
"I was letting you stay home and rest."
"Yeah, you left me alone."
He looked away. "Sorry."
"It's fine."
The hours ticked by. The Coach stayed in the room with us the entire time, never leaving.

Sarah took us both home at the end of the day. It was kinda of quiet in the car... until Sarah exploded.
"Soooooo, we aren't gonna talk about the fact that your girlfriend looks like she was beaten in a WWE match?"
"She's fine." Peter blew her off.
"She is not fine! Look at her neck!" She moved my hair.
"We just got a little crazy last night." He shrugged.
"A little crazy!? This is not what it's supposed to look like when you get 'a little crazy.' The looks she was getting today was a little crazy. You need to act better and be more careful with her!"
"She's okay. She made it to school today."
"Omg, you don't get it." Sarah whipped into my driveway. "You two need to be apart for a while. I'm sorry, Y/N."
"It's okay." I glanced at Peter in the backseat. He had an evil grin on his face. "Thank you, Sarah."
"I promise, I'll fix him." She reassured me before I closed my door. She backed out fast and flew to their house. I watched as she pulled Peter out of the car and hit him repeatedly.
I went inside, hiding myself from Lucy.
"Hey, girlie. How was school?"
"It was okay. I'm very tired. I'm gonna go to sleep." I waved at her.
"Oh, okay."
I went upstairs to my room and locked the door. I got some makeup and blended the bruises in just in case Lucy came up. I relaxed into my bed and caught up on some homework.
