Eunji hurried through the bustling school corridors, aiming to reach Mrs. Dale's class on time. In her haste, she turned a corner and collided with her friend Ariana. The collision sent textbooks flying and papers scattering, creating a momentary chaos.
"Oh, sorry, Eunji!" Ariana exclaimed, quickly bending down to assist in gathering the scattered items.
Amidst the commotion, Eunji chuckled and replied, "It's okay, Ariana. I was in such a rush, I didn't see you there."
As they swiftly collected Eunji's belongings, the school bell rang, signaling the start of Mrs. Dale's class. Eunji's heart sank as she realized she was now running late.
"Great, now I'm going to be late for Mrs. Dale's class," she sighed.
Thinking on her feet, Ariana assured her, "Don't worry, Eunji. I'll explain the situation to Mrs. Dale. Just hurry!"
With a quick nod of gratitude, Eunji dashed down the hallway, navigating through students and lockers. Meanwhile, Ariana, undeterred, gathered the remaining items and took it upon herself to face Mrs. Dale's inquisitive gaze.
Breathless and slightly flustered, Eunji weaved through the school corridors, determined to minimize her tardiness. Mrs. Dale's class was notorious for starting promptly, and Eunji couldn't afford another late entry.
As Eunji approached the classroom door, she noticed Ariana engaging Mrs. Dale in a conversation, gesturing animatedly as if recounting the collision incident. Eunji couldn't help but feel grateful for her friend's quick thinking and willingness to take the initiative.
Mrs. Dale, a seasoned teacher with a reputation for being understanding, listened attentively to Ariana's explanation. She glanced at Eunji, who entered the room with an apologetic smile.
"Thank you for covering, Ariana," Mrs. Dale said with a warm understanding smile. "Eunji, take your seat, and let's get started."
As Eunji settled into her desk, she mouthed a silent "thank you" to Ariana, who responded with a reassuring smile. Throughout the class, Mrs. Dale seamlessly incorporated Eunji into the ongoing lesson, ensuring she didn't miss out on important information.
After the class, Eunji caught up with Ariana in the hallway. "I owe you one," Eunji said with genuine gratitude.
Ariana chuckled, "No worries, Eunji. Friends help each other out. Besides, it made for a good story to tell Mrs. Dale
Eunji, catching her breath, said to Ariana, "Thanks for covering for me, Ari. I thought I was going to be in Mrs. Dale's bad books for sure."
Ariana grinned, "No problem at all, Eunji! We've got each other's backs. Plus, it was a chance to show off my excellent storytelling skills to Mrs. Dale."
As they walked to their next class, Eunji teased, "Maybe I should run into you more often. Seems like it brings good luck."
Ariana laughed, "Just as long as it's not during a pop quiz. I can't save you from that!"
Eunji, still slightly breathless, flashed a grateful smile at Ariana. "Seriously, Ari, you saved me back there. Mrs. Dale can be quite strict about punctuality."
Ariana waved off Eunji's concern. "No big deal! We're friends ; covering for each other is what we do."
As they walked to their next class, Eunji chuckled, "Who knew bumping into you could be the highlight of my day?"
Ariana playfully nudged her. "Well, I aim to make every encounter memorable. It's a special skill of mine."
They navigated the crowded halls, sharing stories and laughter, the incident already turning into a tale of its own. Upon reaching their destination, Eunji said, "I owe you, Ari. Next time, I'll make sure I'm not in such a hurry."
