*CHRIS'S POV*

"Okay. I'll check back in a few hours."

I thank the nurse as she leaves and sit back down in the chair besides the hospital bed. I glance down at Aubrey, laying lifeless with machines beeping around her. She's so pale. I grab her hand, giving it a kiss before resting my cheek on it and look at her. "Baby, please." A sob leaves me. "Wake up so I can tell you how much I love you."

The only answer I get it is the sound of the machines. The knife had missed her vital organs and the doctors were able to patch her up. "I'm sorry."

This was all my fault.

SOMETIME LATER....

"Chris, you need to go home. Take a shower at least."

I lift my head and glance at Leanna as she brushes Aubrey's hair. It was the third day and I was a wreck. "Please. Do it for Aubrey."

I groan. "Fine. But you call me the second she wakes up."

"Aye, aye captain," she replies, saluting me. I shake my head and walk out to go home to freshen up.

LATER THAT NIGHT

"Chris."

I feel fingers going through my hair and I stir, repositioned my head, half asleep.  "Christopher."

"5 more minutes," I murmured, trying to get comfortable in my chair. I hear a soft laugh and my eyes shoot open. Lifting my head, I see Aubrey blinking down at me. "Aubrey?" I rub my eyes. "Am I dreaming?"

"Chris." Her voice is all it takes for the remaining of my shields to break. She holds her arm out and not wasting another second, I stand up.

"I'll get the nurse." I clear my throat and walk out to get the nurse.

Once the nurse had done vitals and check-up on Aubrey, the doctor also came and said she can leave tomorrow morning. I relase a sigh of relief after hearing that, my shoulders sagging. I feel a wave of emotions go through me, tears threatening to fall but I clench my fists, hard. Get a hold of yourself, Chris.

As soon as the doctor and nurse leave, it's just her and I in the room. We look at each other at the same time and she raises both her arms. That's all it takes for the dam to break. I take big steps towards her, throwing my arms around her and hugging her tight. Soft cries comes from her as a tear escape rolls down my cheek. "I missed you."

She buries her face in the crook of my neck, inhaling. "I missed you too."

Grabbing her by her neck, I pull back and observe her face. She looks weak but the smile on her face melts my stress away. I lean in for a kiss and I felt her sigh, as if it was the only thing she was waiting for. And through the kiss, I told her how much I kissed her and showed how much I love her.

*AUBREY'S POV*

"Thanks, Leanna," I say and hang up. I groan, annoyed by these phonecalls. It had been a week and a half since I've been home. I swear one more phonecall and I'll go insane. Right one cue, my phone rings again and I hear Chris giggle from the kitchen. "It's not funny."

"Babe, just put it on silent," he says, walking towards the couch. "Or better yet, turn your phone off."

"And do what?" I throw hands. "I'm going crazy over here!"
