"If I win, you'll have to kiss me."
I'm taken aback. "A kiss?!" I exclaimed. He tilts his head and puts on that flirty smirk again. "What's wrong? I mean, you did say anything right?" I'm at a loss for words as he just stares at me with puppy eyes like he didn't just bet for contact with my lips. The crowd is so excited at this point that it's almost impossible to hear the man in front of me.
"I did but no one has ever-" "Well I'll be the first one then!" He cuts me off mid sentence. I'm so confused at this point but I remember I still need to bet something. "Fine then. But I still need to make a bet. If I win, then you owe me 15k."
"Bet"
We shake hands and I start to walk towards my car I spent my life savings on. Working at all three of those jobs really payed off. Especially after working at the gas station and being able to see all of the amazing cars the world had to offer. My beautiful purple Dodge Challenger with white stripes going across the sides. My dream car. I look over at my opponents car.
It looks like trash. I laugh to myself, how in the world is this guy going to bet against me with that car? I guess I'll be 15k richer after this race. He never even told me his name but at the same time, I never told him mine.
We pull up next to each other at the starting line. I'm on the left side of the road because it's closest to the beach next to us and I love the view. The only thing about it is that there is a cliff only about 10ft away from my car but I've never had problems so I never expect to. We turn and make eye contact with each other and the count down starts.
"ON YOUR MARK"
"GET SET"
I feel so confident as I smile and face the front.
"GO!" 🏁
