CHAPTER 2 "The Midst of The End"
~CHRIZTOPHER'S POV~
I was peacefully sleeping when suddenly someone abruptly woke me up.
???: Hey, love, it's time to get up now. I've made breakfast!
My vision was still blurry, and I could only make out a girl's silhouette.
As my eyes adjusted, I realized it was my girl, Xandrea.
She was standing there, smiling down at me, looking as radiant as ever.
Chriz: Xandrea? How did you—
Xandrea: Let's stop talking and enjoy our meal, shall we?She said, her voice gentle but insistent.
I was having breakfast with my girlfriend, and I was thrilled that she was back.
Chriz: Hey, love? How did you come back... I mean, we left you at the lab and—
Xandrea: Oh well, it's a long explanation but you're right...
Xandrea's tone changed, her smile fading.
Chriz: What do you mean I'm right?
I asked, confusion tightening its grip on me.
She looked at me with an intensity that sent a chill down my spine.
Xandrea: You... left me, right? You left me. You left me to die alone. I was suffering. And now you're enjoying your life. YOU FUCKING LEFT ME!
Her words echoed in my head, a relentless accusation that pierced through my heart.
Her words kept repeating, growing louder and more accusing until... someone woke me up.
Manuel: Hey, are you alright?
Manuel's concerned voice broke through the haze of my nightmare.
Manuel: You seemed to be having a bad dream. Is it about Ate? Are you thinking about her? About Xandrea?
I sat up, my heart still pounding.
Chriz: I dreamt about Drea. She kept saying that I left her there... to die alone.
Manuel placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder.
Manuel: That's just a dream, don't worry. Let's have breakfast and wind yourself up.
As we headed to the makeshift dining area, I couldn't shake the lingering dread.
Chriz: Hey, do you think she's upset with me?
Manuel: I don't think so. Ate doesn't hold a grudge over situations like that.
Chriz: I hope so, Do you think she's still out there?Manuel's expression turned somber.
Manuel: Well, it's either out there surviving and immune, or out there, looking for flesh.
We ate in silence, the weight of our conversation hanging heavy in the air.
I tried to focus on the food, but my mind kept drifting back to Xandrea.
Her face, her voice, the pain in her eyes – it all felt so real.
Was she truly gone? Or was there a chance, however slim, that she was still out there, fighting to survive?
