Chapter 3

Next week goes by really quick. And she received a call from Taehyung to meet her on Sunday after her work. After her work means late night as her shift ends at 9.

So she asks him to just come to her apartment as it's the only appropriate place to have conversation. She is not certain what's the reason he wants to meet her. She didn't hear anything from him after last call so she is a little concerned.

His voice sounds too serious with a touch of desperation as if he wants something from her which he can't say it through the phone and requires a proper talk.

She hears the bell rings so she opens the door for him. He's wearing his casual clothes-milky long sleeves shirt with brown trousers. Jisoo is a straightforward person so she doesn't hide the fact Taehyung is indeed one of the handsome guys she met. No wonder Jennie is in love with him.

She gestures him and sits down on the couch while he takes the opposite one.

Since he's the one who wants to meet and talk, Jisoo waits for him to start first. His hands rubbing against each other show whatever he's about to say sure will make her feel uncomfortable.

"Sorry for the suddenness." Taehyung speaks in apologetic tight smile.

"No need for the formality. What do you want to talk?" Jisoo says bluntly.

Nodding once, Taehyung leans forward to put his elbows on his knees. "The reason I want to meet you is because I need you to do me a favor. A big favor actually."

"Yeah?"

"Before I say what that is, I have to admit and apologize beforehand." He bites his bottom lip nervously. Jisoo only acquiesces. "I searched your background without your permission and I found out you're in trouble because of the debts your parents-"

When Taehyung meets Jisoo's eyes, he pauses. She doesn't react physically or speak but her eyes are eloquent enough to tell she's furious and he angers her.

He did expect her to be furious, obviously. "I sincerely apologize for my improper behavior but I had to do that in order to know you-"

"Why?" She interrupts.

"Like I said I need your help. I'm not from ordinary family and whoever I'm going to associate needs to do a background check up. I'm not trying to embarrass you by saying so. I seriously need your help and only you are capable of helping me."

Resting her forehead on her fist, Jisoo presses her lips tight. "Stop beating around the bush and get to the point."

Taehyung looks at Jisoo carefully as he wonders if his idea is a good thing as Jisoo seems to be not that easy to deal with. She is bold and blatant. She doesn't hold back what she wants to say even if she's in the face of the person.

"As you know my family is rushing engagements since the absence of Jennie and planning plenty of proposals. I don't want to get married to the girl I don't love. Because of Jennie, everything is ruined and I'm lost. I persuaded my family to stop forcing me but they didn't listen. Which left me to do this in the end. Actually, I know you're also in need of help so I hope you don't reject the offer. It benefits both of us equally. Don't worry, I'm a man of my words. That's why I make an exclusive contract for the deal-"

"What do you want to say?" Jisoo impatiently cuts off.

"Can you be my pretend girlfriend till I find Jennie?"

"Your what?" Jisoo stands up in complete disbelief.

Taehyung pulls out a white sheet from his bag and places it on the glass table. "Don't fret. You don't have to be my actual girlfriend and do all the stuffs you just have to be the girlfriend in name during the preparation of my wedding. It will be in August, the month I take over my father's position as CEO."

"No. I'm not interested at all!" Jisoo denies crisply and walks to the door.

"Listen please. I can't love anyone else but Jennie so there's no way I'd marry other girls. The reason I choose you is because you're her friend and you'll never like me or flirt with me. I promise you it will only last for four months and you will be treated as a respected guest as my fiancee at the mansion. I'll make sure every bit of the debts of yours will be paid including your brother's school's fees."

Jisoo yanks the door open. "Leave! You have no shame to stalk me and my life but you still have the audacity to bargain with me for your stupid engagements? I'd rather pay my debts till I die than do something outrageous like that!"

Taehyung groans and rubs his face. "Jisoo, you can take your time and think about this. Please. I'll never take advantage of your weakness and threaten you. I respect you as Jennie's friend. I'm in shambles because of all the responsibilities on my shoulders. You'll help me a lot if you accept this offer. Consider this thoughtfully please." He stares at her one last time before leaving.

Jisoo slams the door and leans her back against it with eyes closed.

Just what the heck happened? He wants her to be what-a fake fiancee for the sake of his family? On top of everything, he invaded her private life by investigating her background and even shamelessly said he would pay her debts?

She may be inadequate in money aspect but she isn't that low to follow dirty way. Who the hell does he think he is that he even makes an exclusive contract?

Banging her head against the door, Jisoo helplessly sits on the floor. Why is life always playing with her? Why is it testing her patience but never gives her a rest?

Did she trouble anyone before that she's unlucky? Maybe she isn't trying harder. Maybe she lacks something that others have.

Jennie. Why did you leave? What's the reason that made you leave? Are you okay? Did something drastic happen that you couldn't come back?

Now another problem is added in her burdens and she just wishes this is all a nightmare but she wants to wake up soon since it's killing her softly.
