Navya's Navel - "The Detective"

2. Crime Scene

Navya parks the SUV in her usual spot, steps out of it wearing a red sports bra with a black workout pants and silver cross-training shoes looking like an aspiring model, absolutely stunning and drop dead gorgeous. She looked around, it was a quiet night with slight fog and a few stars shining in the sky.

She pulls out her gym bag from the back seat and walks towards the main entrance, unlocks the door of that tiny little gym where she likes to workout alone without being disturbed by others. It was dark inside, but she turned on the light bulb hanging above a punching bag all the way in the corner. It had been a few minutes she was practicing her punches and kicks, and her phone rang.

"Officer Navya Ahluja speaking", she answered her phone.

"Navya, it's Avinash.... Not sure if you can hear the commotion behind me... but we are at a crime scene... and Boss wants you here at the scene right away...."

Navya frustratingly reacts, "Now...?? I just started working out.... I am not even dressed properly to be in public... can the Boss give me an hour... I still have to take a shower and get ready?..."

"I know you probably look dynamite in that outfit.... soooo... not sure about others, but I would love to see you in your workout clothes... Haha.... Oblige us with your gracious presence... Detective Ahluja!." Avinash laughs.

"Not funny.... But ok.. Text me the message and I will head out...." Navya starts packing up her things.

A few minutes later

Navya grabs her phone and gets out of her SUV. Place was surrounded by forensic experts and three police vans and an ambulance. Even in the middle of that commotion, people who were working on the case took a pause and spent a few moments checking out Navya. They were not used to seeing an investigating officer show up at a crime scene in her workout clothes. A low neck sports bra and an exposed midriff was a delight for everyone in the middle of that consumed crime scene.

Ignoring all the staring eyes, she finds Avinash, "These people are staring at me like they have never seen a woman before.... .... Anyway... walk me through... what is going on....?"

Avinash takes two steps back, looks Navya up and down a few times, playfully wincing, he stares at her exposed midriff and whistles at her navel.

Navya punches his arm, "...... Focus - Crime scene - details - now ....."

"Phewwww.... If I knew you looked this hot in your gym clothes.... I will make sure I call you at a crime scene in urgency each time.... Haha..." Avinash notices Navya's straight face, "Ok sorry sorry...come this way...its a case of double homicide..."

Avinash explains to Navya that it's a murder of a young woman most likely in her late twenties, her name was Nalini Bamal, who is married to a Vishwa Bamal.

"And Navya.... listen to this... wife is murdered here and about 20 minutes from here we found the body of her husband, Vishwa Bamal" Avinash goes over a few more details with her, "and.... Come... I want to show you something else too....."

Avinash uncovers Nalini's body, there was a pool of blood not only covering her navel, but also dripping down her waist from both sides, a mean looking stab wound which could be done by a sharp edged knife pierced brutally inside her navel. Navya subconsciously covers her own navel with her right hand seeing the horrific deed done to Nalini's navel. Avinash saw Navya covering her navel and joked that people will think twice before they do anything to her navel, he knew Navya is fierce and can defend herself with her fighting skills.

"Forensic experts from both scenes are communicating... based on initial finding, they think.... it could be the same knife used in both the killings... taking into consideration the width and depth of the stab wounds.... Nalini is stabbed once in her navel but Vishwa is stabbed a few times in the back and left there to bleed out....." as Avinash continues to share more details of the crime.
